Once you reached your apartment, you sighed in relief.

Thank god that you cleaned it up before. Your apartment wasn't small nor big, it was just the right size.

Before coming here, Ethan dropped Leo off since the kids are already in good hands.

You told them to wait in the living room and let them watch some Netflix shows while you cook.

You were washing the vegetables when you felt a strong gaze from behind.

Turning around, you saw Ethan leaning on the counter while watching you.

You were a little flustered but you shook it off, you didn't want him to see you all embarrassed again, right? You straightened your back and grinned at him.

"Want to help?"

"I thought you'd never ask" he chuckled as he walked towards you and you asked him to chop the lettuce and some other vegetables while you prepare the stove along with the other ingredients.

After a few minutes, you walked back to him and your eyes widened.

"Don't tell me you don't know how to cut up vegetables" you raised your eyebrow.

"Well... I don't really cook since we have a maid" he rubbed his nape.

"Here, I'll teach you" you hovered your hands over him to guide him.

"I should be the one doing this since I'm the big one"

"Well sorry, your fault that you couldn't chop a lettuce but don't worry, I'm sure your hand is more skilled and useful on other things" you smiled innocently and he smirked

"Like what Miss Bowen?" He asked as he leaned in closer to you.

You put your lips near his ear and spoke "like signing documents, using that hand to hold papers and point out a mistake that an employee made, you know? Typical boss" you smiled as you pulled away.

He rolled his eyes. "Who knew you're such a cocky teenage boy, Mr. Carter?" You chuckled.

"And you're a cock block Miss Bowen" he sassed.

"Mama!" Ella giggled as she ran behind you to hide from Aiden.

You and Ethan's eyes widened. Aiden giggled as he caught up to Ella. Both of you were still frozen.

Ethan just looked away. The silence was so loud that it made you feel uneasy.

'I guess we're both shocked' you thought as you continued cooking.

After a little while, you served the food and the kids were really happy and amazed by your cooking skills.

Ethan was just silently eating, making you concerned about what's going on inside his head.

Both of you weren't close like friends before. Not until now, both of you opened a new level of knowing each other, and it's just been a day.

Everything was going too fast but you weren't complaining. The only worry you had was him and his thoughts.

After dinner, Ethan stood up "Thank you for the dinner Miss Bowen, but I think me and the kids should be going now" his voice was back to his usual bossy voice and attitude.

All you could do was nod but you were upset inside. "But dad, I want to stay," Aiden said.

"Yeah daddy, me too–"

"No! We need to leave now" he suddenly raised his voice, making Ella's lips quiver and let out a small whimper as she yanked her hand from her dad's and ran to your embrace.

She sobbed, making you frown and you caressed her cheeks.

"Sweetheart, your daddy is tired and needs his rest okay? Forgive him, he's a busy man and works just so that he could provide anything you need. Now go, it's late. Maybe we could do this again. Not now but soon, hm?" She wiped her tears and nodded.

You sighed as she walked back to her father.

Aiden was just frowning, not liking it when his father raised his voice. The three of them went inside the car.

You expected Ethan and you to exchange a few words before leaving but he just drove away, leaving you devastated.

'Guess that explains that I would just be his employee.

Nothing more than that'
