"They were never your kids Damien" Damien scoffed as he stared at Ethan with a hard gaze.

"They are my kids. They are my blood Carter, you should know better" Ethan clicked his tongue.

"Blood doesn't define family. You should've thought about that before leaving Eloise and her unborn kids"

flashback ; 5 years ago

"I don't know Ethan" Eloise sobbed as she bawled her eyes out in front of her best friend, the man none other than Carter Ethan.

"I know he's going to clubs and going to the penthouse with different women every night" she wiped her tears.

"Ever since he knew I was pregnant, he became more distant. He also began drinking and bringing women home. I just don't know anymore" Ethan hugged her and let her cry on his shoulder.

"You deserve better El" he whispered to her.

Eloise and Damien aren't married but due to unprotected sex, he managed to impregnate Eloise.

Eloise didn't know she was pregnant until the third week.

Ethan was always the one who took care of Eloise since Damien is always out.

He would've beat him up for hurting Eloise but Eloise begged him not to. While Eloise was pregnant, she let her close cousin take over her company for a while.

Yes, she's the successor of her father's company. Ever since he passed, she had been taking over as the CEO.

"Eloise, are you sure?" Valerie, her cousin, asked when Eloise asked her to take over the company for a while.

"Yes Valerie, I trust you and I know the company will be in good hands if you're the one who takes over" Valerie gave her a soft smile and hugged her.

"I know you'll get over him El. He's not worth your tears, okay?" She hugged Eloise.

At the twenty first week of her being pregnant, Damien left her for some young bimbo he met at the club.

Not before telling Eloise how much the twins were a nuisance and how he can't take responsibility. He blamed it all on Eloise.

Eloise just took everything in whatever he said, leaving her depressed. But after a month, she was slowly getting back up with the help of Ethan and Valerie.

They had been there with her to attend to her needs. Eloise was very grateful for that.

But before her due date, she called in her lawyer to write and sign her last will and statement, stating that, if ever she died from giving birth since she had birth canal issues which made her expect that it will be hard for her to give birth, especially to twins.

Stating that, Valerie Leone will be taking over the company until the rightful heir reached legality (18), which is the first twin to be birthed out. And that all inheritance will be split into 50% for each of the twins and only them.

Anyone isn't allowed to sign or transfer the share to anyone except for the heirs of Eloise Leone. Until then, Ethan Carter will be assigned as their legal guardian if that circumstance happens.

And that was what she did. And she was right, her birth canal was too narrow. It was very difficult.

Well, difficult is an understatement since she passed after she pushed out the second twin which was Ella.

After that, she couldn't take it anymore. Ethan had been by her side the whole time, giving her reassuring remarks while she was going through labour.

Unfortunately, he left the hospital with only the twins with him. Since Eloise' last will was Ethan to be the twins guardian/ parent, that's what he did.

And he swore his life that he would take care of them, love them like a parent should, and wouldn't abandon the kids like what Damien did.
