Six Months Later
Eden
"I'm really trying not to be a bridezilla, I promise!" Brynn cried out after trying on her six hundredth wedding dress. Okay, maybe not six hundred, but you get the point.
Brynn's Mom, Cousin, Tate's sister, and myself were all seated in the viewing area watching the meltdown begin.
"Why are they all so terrible?!" She fussed, on the brink of tears. I quickly jumped up and went to her side, hoping to avoid a full-blown fit.
"What's going on? These are all how you described your dream dress." I fiddled with the ruffles on the dress as I spoke. "They're all gorgeous, and you look amazing. What's missing?"
"I don't know. I just thought I'd know instantly when I found the right one, which isn't happening." Brynn whispered to me.
"Okay, let's take a break then. You don't have to find one today." I shrugged, trying to ease the pressure she was feeling.
"I do! They all can't come up again; today is the day."
"Tough love? They'll see the damn dress on your wedding day." I huffed. Over the last several months, learning to speak up for myself has encouraged a less filtered Eden. Brynn, thankfully, threw her head back in laughter.
"You are right, and I love you. But you and my Mom are the ones who matter most, and she will come back any time I ask. Okay. I needed that. Thank you." She grabbed me for a ridiculously tight hug before declaring we were done for the day.
I left Brynn with the other ladies and headed off to my apartment. The one I had been sharing with Reed for the last six months. Our relationship only blossomed during that time. About a week after the process, I fully recovered from the stem cell donation, and we began to live our new life together. Right now, Reed has two months off. Not entirely off, of course; training and workouts were still daily, but he was home every night, which was terrific.
I laid my bag and keys on the table, hearing Reed's voice carry down the hall. I tried to make out who he was talking to, but it was impossible. I slowly pushed open the door, careful not to interrupt if it was a work-related call. I instantly smiled, seeing Lizzie's sweet face on the phone screen.
"Eden!" She cried out, catching me as I entered the room.
"Hey, babe." Reed moved over in the bed, making a space for me. "Lizzie was bored, so I figured we could chat for a bit."
"How's isolation going?" I asked. Lizzie had undergone five months of chemotherapy and just recently had her bone marrow transplant. The procedure for her was much more complicated than it had been for June and me. She had been in isolation for some time before the process but was now in a more strict version as her body acclimated to the new cells in her body. Nevertheless, her prognosis was good, and we were all very grateful to the donor.
"It's okay. I feel like I shouldn't complain because I'm alive and stuff. At least I'm not at school, I guess. But I just really hate that we're not spending Christmas together this year." She pouted, breaking my heart.
"Next Christmas, we will go crazy; it will be like two Christmases in one!" Reed smiled.
"You already gave me the best Christmas present." Lizzie smiled in return. She had made sure to thank him several times a day for donating the cells she needed.
"Stop. I know you are thankful, but there is no way in the world I would not have done it for you. All I want in return is for you to have an amazing life and to be nice to me for the rest of mine." He laughed with some sincerity. I leaned over, kissing him on his temple, snuggling into him.
"Okay, that's my time. So gross." She muttered with a laugh. Lila was in the background smiling, waving at the two of us before we ended the chat.
"How are you feeling?" I asked.
"I'm fine. It's over a week now, and I'm all good. Even better when you're right here."
"You're such a cheeseball." I teased, climbing over and straddling his lap.
"You love it." He growled. I nodded in response, grinding myself against him. I was dying to have him inside me again; the time for him to recover from the transplant was torturous.
"How did the dress shopping go?" He asked with a smirk. This jerk knew exactly what he was doing to me. So I decided to play his game too. I crawled off his lap, standing on the side of the bed. I slowly began removing my clothes to reveal the sexiest lingerie he had no idea I owned. When I dressed this morning, I planned for this moment. I donned a black lace push-up bra with a black thong, his favorite for me to wear.
"It went well. For me, at least. I found the perfect dress." I teased as I shimmied out of my pants. Reed shot up, sitting up, eyes wide as he watched.
"For you? You plan on getting married?" I smiled at his shirtless form and the noticeable rise in shorts as he glared at me. His look was almost predatory, and I loved it.
"Mmmhmm. Maybe." I slowly lifted my sweater up and off, then pulled my hair out of its tie. As I was shaking it out, he sprung up and out of bed and had me pinned against the dresser.
"You wanna be, Mrs. Sawyer?" He growled in my ear, his breath hot.
"Maybe." I shrugged, trying to wiggle out of his grasp. "Someday."
"I guess I'll have to do something about that then." He gripped the back of my head, pulling me to his face as he crashed his lips against mine. Our kisses were always amazing, tongues thrashing and full of steam. We kissed as if it would be our last one. Then, before I even realized it, he lifted me and wrapped my legs around his waist.
"I really just want you to fuck me." I mewled as he lowered me down onto the bed.
"Such a dirty mouth." He tsked. "Such a beautiful woman." His hands roamed my body, sending goosebumps all over me. I smiled up at him as he rubbed down my legs, trailing his fingers along the lines of the thong panties. He leaned forward, feathering kisses across my stomach and down my thighs before bringing his mouth to my core. My back arched, thrusting my hips to meet his mouth in need. "So greedy." He teased, sliding the thin strip over and flicking his tongue over my clit.
"Yes," I breathed out.
Reed quickly slid the panties down and off me, then quickly flipped us so that I was on top of him as he laid down. His hands came up and quickly released my breasts from the lace bra and cupped them, rubbing his thumb over my pebbled nipples. I threw my head back in pleasure, moving my hips and lining him up to enter me.
Slowly, I bounced up and down as his hands massaged me. Then, nothing but the sounds of our breathing, moans of pleasure, and skin slapping filled the room. It didn't take long before my dominant man came out, flipping us yet again, so he was in control. He pounded into me while kissing my body and professing his love for me.
He pulled my legs over his shoulders as he gripped my waist. I could tell neither of us would last much longer. Over a week without this was too much for us, our relationship may have been a slow burn in the beginning, but we were an inferno now.
"I love you." I cooed as we were seconds away from release.
"I love you." He leaned down, growling into my ear as he spilled his release inside me. Our sweaty bodies stuck together for a moment as we caught our breath, then separated into a cuddle. Reed stroked my hair out of my face, rubbing his thumb over my lips with a lazy smile on his face. As I lay there in post-sex bliss, I heard him clear his throat as he leaned on one arm.
"Did you really pick out a dress?"
