I woke up to a bag being zipped. Please don't be a body bag, please, please. I opened one eye to find Peter gone and Isobel packing her school bag. "Hurry up and get dressed. Class starts in 10 minutes." Oh yeah, her. Wait...was she here all night, whilst me and Peter....Probably not. It seemed like she stayed in somebody else's dorm, her bed looked like it hadn't been touched and she wore the same thing as yesterday.
Once I was dressed we left for class. I explained to Isobel how we had a new art teacher because Mrs Jane left but she didn't look very interested. We took our seats in the middle so we shared a table. The teacher still hadn't arrived yet and the class was louder than usual. "So where was your last school?" I tried to make conversation. Her back straightened, I noticed she was extremely skinny as if she hadn't eaten in a year.
"I went to a military school actually. It's in Denver somewhere." She didn't sound convincing, more like she had never even heard of another school.
"Why did you move?"
"I...gave it up. I needed a real education." I nodded. Just as I were about to ask another question the door opened. Silence filled the room. Eyes widened as a lady with a jet black bob and block fringe walked in. My heart stopped beating, I stopped breathing, I stopped blinking, everything froze for at least a minute. Isobel on my right nudged my elbow, "You know her?" She whispered.
Yes, I did. I tried to say but it just wouldn't come out. For the lady standing at the front of the class wasn't just anyone...it was my dad's old assistant, Stacey. My hand grabbed my notebook and I used it to shield my face. Real subtle, Emily, real subtle. Isobel's eyebrows deepened whilst she stared at me. "What's your problem? Who is she?"
"Class." Stacey spoke out loudly whilst she strutted towards the whiteboard. "I am Miss Sadre." She wrote the name on the board. "I am also your new art teacher. I will warn you now; I am not here to mess around. I'm here to teach you. Do not think we are 'friends', you're here to impress me! Understand?" We all nodded as quickly as possible. Well, she hasn't changed one bit. Her eyes scanned the class. No, no, no. They landed on me and widened. I gave a small wave, 'Hey' I mouthed. Surprisingly, she composed herself before continuing the lesson. Not looking at me again.

The bell rang faster than I expected. Everyone gathered their things and rushed out the door quicker than lightening. All except me. Isobel waited patiently. "Emily." Miss Sadre called out bitterly. "We need to talk."
"I don't think you do." Isobel stepped between us. Oh my god, this girl has a death wish. "The bells gone, you can't keep her here."
Stacey's jaw clenched. "And you are?"
"Getting pissed off quickly, nice to meet you." The blonde
girl replied before grabbing my wrist hard and yanking me outside into the
hall.
"What the hell was that?!" I squeaked. She arched her
eyebrows. "She will kill me, literally."
"No she won't...its abuse."
"No kidding."
We began to walk. "Why is she angry at you anyways?"
"She used to work for my dad before I fired her." A wave of pride washed over me when Isobel smirked like she was impressed I could do that to someone.
"Why was that?" My green eyes stared into her brown, 'Are you stupid?' I asked in my head. "Actually don't answer that, I can guess. So what do you do for fun around here?"
"Fun? I don't usually have time."
"You seemed like you did last night." My face burned with embarrassment. Okay, maybe she was there last night. "Who was that guy anyways?"
"My boyfriend, Peter. He lives in the dorm upstairs from us. The other guy was Harry, his best friend."
"Oh, did you say he lived upstairs from us?" I nodded slowly. "Just wondering."
