Together. (Peter Parker/Spider-man)

Part 2- Chapter twelve.

Isobel's P.O.V~

"They know that S.H.I.E.L.D's after them now. They'll try anything to get Emily, just to get you." I told Peter, whilst shuffling papers from the meeting that Nick Fury must have just had. Emily and Peter were now staying at S.H.I.E.L.D, a place where they could never be found.

"Why does HYDRA want me so bad?" Peter muttered. "What did I do?"

"You're Spider-man." I said like it explained everything, which it did, only not to Peter who sat dumb-founded. I sighed. "They're trying to create humans with special abilities, right? You're the only person they know where your genetics have been successfully changed. They want to know the secret. If they don't get it right then all the experiments could die or end up really badly damaged."

"How do we stop them?"

"We've tried almost everything. We've gone against them for about 100 years, Peter. And still, we're equals. If HYDRA makes successful Meta humans then that's it. We lose. They have an army of freaks and we have an army of agents. Guns vs powers, doesn't seem balanced, does it?"

It was silent for a moment. "Before we left, you were telling me something, about your friend. You never finished."

I froze. How could he even think of that right now? "Fine, I'll finish. But first, I must start. About 2 years ago, I worked for one of Oscorp's partners. I can't remember the name. My friend, Danielle, she volunteered for a new serum they were testing. When they questioned where she was, I raised my hand. They took that as a sign that I must be her. So I was taken to a room, beaten up until I calmed down and took the serum. When I woke up, everything was different, I escaped the building I was in and saved by HYDRA. They trained me for months until I was prepared to kill. That's what they do, Peter. They take people, mess with them and kill them inside until they kill others. So I did. Until one day I fought Danielle. She had been taken by S.H.I.E.L.D to go against me, they were trying to stop me, save me, but I wouldn't listen. I thought I was on the good side, but I was wrong. Eventually I left HYDRA to find Danielle. She was shot by someone I thought I trusted, she died remembering me. Then Nick Fury saved me and I owe him my life for it. And here I am."

Peter's jaw dropped, he stared at me before dropping his eyes to floor. "Don't feel bad for me, Peter. I know people who've been put through worse. The girl who saved Emily? Her body was ripped apart and put back together again until HYDRA had perfected her transition from human to metal. The people who are still trapped in HYDRA? They've had their lives stolen from them and ripped apart. They've been lied to and manipulated. Everyone gets hurt, Peter. Some are just worse than others."

"Then why are you helping me?" Peter asked softly.

I had finished stacking the papers and left them neatly by the side. "Because I don't want you to lose Emily like I lost Danielle. It doesn't matter who you are or what you've done, no one deserves that pain." I said before walking away, not even glancing at him.
