"Ama," i could hear my name from far off. "Amandi Gwandi, its not safe out here." I could hear my Father's calm cunning voice.

And my leg hurt like a bitch but I kept limping further.

Then lightening ruttled causing light to spread everywhere.

"Shit," I screamed trying to hide.

" Hey over there," one of the search member's spotted me. My heart was racing much more than before, i feared for my life. This made me sprint with much more force.

Of all days, why had it been today.

Why hadn't I thought of fleeing way back. Because if am caught, am off to marriage instantly even without a ceremony if am lucky enough after what I've just pulled up.

Thinking of Lue only gave me much more strength.

" No matter what happens, do not stop Amandi Gwandi," he whispered to me before my departure." This place is not for you."

Lue was all i had to keep me sane.

Thinking of, when we're little, toys we're only offered to the boy child. Father would weld cars for Lue using afew metal and plastic as tyres. While I knitted clothing for home purposes.

It was the order of the day.

I could see my twin brother so happy and giggling as he played with the other boys of our neighborhood.

I envied Lue but we're both too little to go against the rules. Lue always followed Father's instructions and I, mother.

Mother always said, am being groomed to be of service to our community and one day, I'd be married off to a wealthy man, who'd relieve the trouble off my family. And also set standards for Lue to get a girl with that bride price.

So all he thought of was getting a very beautiful young girl from the city. Those dreams we're constantly planted into his head until he went of age and began to reason eventually.

Thats when he began seeing everything didn't seem right with Akwolle District.

And now, I didnt wanna let him down.

But also, having no other option.

If I was to be caught, hanging was the penalty probably.

I could feel my lungs demanding for oxygen but this wasnt a run for satisfaction, it was for safety.

But the thought of safety was also slightly slipping away this very moment.

I interwinded between twigs and large tree trucks to cover my trucks but the team seemed to evolve much closer.

All things I'd imagined they'd do to me came to mind. First I'd either be hanged or locked up in a cellar. Starved, beaten or anything much worse. Kaffo Reinard could choose the punishment best suitable.

I knew he was capable of much worse decisions because his heart was as much cold as his damn brain.

Compasion wasn't one of his character traits.

He was a living monster.

My foot was bleeding and I guess they could follow the blood stains with their torch lights.

Running was needless now.

It was all over.
