Millie's P.O.V.
I pull up into our garage. Neil's car is already there, which is surprising because he doesn't come this early. Entering the living room, my mouth hangs open.
Neil is setting up a highchair and various unopened big boxes lay around him. "What are you doing?"
"Getting our house ready for our baby." He says in a 'duh' tone.
"Babe, I haven't even asked her of anything yet." I reply, still taking in the scenery of our living room.
Neil stands up, coming over to me. He bends down to give me a long kiss. His 6'4 height makes me look short. "It doesn't hurt to start early."
"But this is too early." I tell him, my voice getting a bit emotional.
"Don't stress over it so much, everything will be alright." Neil tucks my hair behind my ear, his touch relaxing me.
I stand on my tippy toes, giving him another peck. "You got jealous seeing the pictures, didn't you?" I tease him.
"I can neither confirm nor deny it." He laughs. "Go get a shower, then you can tell me about the little miss." He shoos me away, going back to working on the highchair.
"Don't open the other boxes! not without me!" I yell, going upstairs to our master bedroom. I'm about to enter the bathroom, when I remember of Audrey. "Oh, shit." I curse.
I run to check my phone. And there is still no call from her. I check the time to see it's already forty minutes. My palms get sweaty, my heartbeat goes faster. I immediately call her number. It rings four times before she finally picks up.
"Audrey, baby, where are you?" My voice is shaky, my mind full of worries.
"I am watching Bubble Guppies!" Audrey tells me with excitement. A sigh escapes my lips, that I didn't know I was holding.
"And what were you supposed to do when you get home?" I ask her sternly.
I hear some rumbling and a faint 'shoot' before she answers, "I forgot Mrs. Millie. But it's not my fault. Pubbles always distracts me from doing im-important work. He told me to watch Bubble Guppies and I told him no. But then he told me over and over and so I turned on Bubble Guppies, and I forgot to call you. So, it's not my fault. Pubbles is the bad guy. I'm not bad girl, I'm a good girl." She rants making me smile. I also hear a low 'sorry Pubbles', and I laugh silently.
"So, it's Pubbles fault, huh?" I ask my little girl. She is just too innocent for her own good.
"Uh-huh." She tells me firmly as if I wouldn't know about her lies.
"But can you promise me dear, you'll always call me right after reaching home?" I ask a little sternly.
"Okay, Mrs. Millie." She tells me. "Do you watch Bubble Guppies?" She asks me in excitement.
"No, sweety, but I would love to watch with you." I lie to her. I mean I will watch it with her, just won't love it.
"YOU'RE GONNA LOVE IT!" She all but screams into the phone. I smile to myself.
"Now, sweety, did you eat anything?" I ask her knowing the answer will probably be no.
"Noo." She whines as if she already knows I'm going to be disappointed.
"But you have to eat, sweetheart." I tell her with concern.
"Okay, I'll eat after this episode." She tells me.
"Good girl." I almost coo. "Now, can you tell me what you're going to eat?" I do have some doubts on her diet.
"Froot loops." She tells me. I sigh. I am correct. Her diet is messed up and totally unhealthy.
