Audrey's P.O.V.
"Good morning, little lady!" The nice lady receptionist Grace greets me while I walk into the building.
"Aww, you look so adorable sweetheart." She says making me blush. I'm wearing my favourite pink overalls today. I'm so excited to show this to Mrs. Millie. I squeal, just thinking about that.
"Thank you, Grace." I mumble.
"Go ahead sweety, I won't waste your time." She tells me, sipping her coffee. Yuck. Who even likes coffee?!
A random lady glares at me while I walk through, making me scared. I don't like mean people. Because they are MEAN.
..
Getting out of the elevator, I skip excitedly to Mrs. Millie's office. Getting on my tip toes, I twist the knob and enter her office, without even knocking.
When I look up expecting to see Mrs. Millie, I freeze. Th-there is a big man sitting on it. I just stand there, unable to move even a single muscle.
Neil's P.O.V.
Millie has gone crazy, after we decided to bring Audrey to our house. Waking me up at five in the morning from my precious sleep, she has been preparing our house for Audrey. She has been putting every sharp and brittle thing out of normal view, or at least high enough for Audrey. And how she managed to get a small toddler bed in the morning, is beyond me.
So to sum it up, she is engaged in all that stuff. And that is why I'm here at her office, to bring our sweet girl home. Or at least to keep her entertained until the queen herself arrives.
I've sitting here for ten- twenty minutes now. Just then, the door knob twists and a little creature rushes into the office.
I watch as the little girl freezes at her place, seeing me. Well, I'm not surprised. I'm a big man after all.
Wide green eyes stare at me, almost looking scared.
"Hi, little one." I wave my hand, trying to make my voice as soft as possible.
Audrey shuffles at her place before quietly mumbling "Hi."
"Come here, little one. I promise I don't bite." I smile, trying to ease her nerves.
Audrey takes the smallest and slowest steps before she comes across the table. She shuffles her way round the table in front of me, when I gesture her to.
"Wh-wh-who is you?" Audrey meekly asks me. I've got to say, this is the first time broken grammar has melted my heart.
"I'm Neil, precious. Your Mrs. Millie's husband." I can see her eyes go wide.
"Really?" She tilts her head adorably.
"Really, precious." I nod my head. "I have something for you. Do you want it?"
"Yes." I take out the chocolate that I brought. But before I can hand her that-
"I want it! I want it!" Audrey jumps on her place, as excited as one can be. There you go, plan worked. No one can stop me from becoming the cooler parent.
"Calm down baby girl. It's all for you." I hand her the chocolate, which by the way looks enormous on her little hands.
She squeals. And that is now my favourite sound. I'll do anything to hear that again and again.
"Can I eat it now? Pretty please." Audrey pleads me with those big doe eyes. How can I say no to that!
"Of course, you can precious. It's yours." I tell her smiling.
