Millie's P.O.V.
It's been a couple of days since Audrey is with us. To say the least, Neil and I are living the best days of our lives. Our generally calm household has been a little more engaging and fun. The running around, giggles, whining, pouting, stomping, complains, 'not a baby' - has made our lives livelier.
But today, we're going to have a busy day. I have a business meeting, and I'm going to bring my child with me. It will be her first meeting. This will be a big day for her, meeting more than twenty people at a time.
In the middle of having my morning thoughts, Neil pulls me close to him. "Morning, love." He says groggily.
"Good morning." I try to get away from his grip as he pulls me closer. "Let go off me." I blush, pushing him away. "We just woke up."
"Does it really matter?" He lets go of me, with a smirk. Getting out of the bed, he says, "You go wake precious up. I'm going to get ready." disappearing into the bathroom. Groaning, I get out of the bed as well.
Slowly entering Audrey's room, my heart swells up. My little girl is sleeping on her tummy with her fingers in her mouth. Her Pubbles is laying by her side. The night gown I put her in last night has risen up to her chest, leaving her exposed. My little Audrey is looking so adorable.
"Wakey wakey, baby." I move her messy hair out of her face.
"Nuu." Audrey turns her head away.
"Come on bubba." I rub her back.
"Nuu don' wan-" My munchkin starts coughing even before she could finish her sentence.
"Aw come here baby, it's okay." I pick her up in my arms with her head on my shoulders. Her body feels a little warm. Resting the back of my hand on her forehead, I get reassured she is indeed under the weather.
"You don't so feel so good, baby?" I more of whisper, swaying her in my arms, pacing back and forth in her room.
"Nu, Mrs. Millie." She croaks out, her voice a bit hoarse.
"It's okay, we're going to call off from work today. We can rest until you get better." I kiss her temple.
"No! We have meeting!" Audrey suddenly yells, getting excited.
"We cannot go to office while you're sick, peanut." I explain. There is no way I'm going to work while my little one is sick.
"I wan' to go." Audrey shouts, breaking down in tears. She is overwhelmed.
"Shh. Don't cry baby. We'll go, we'll go." I bounce her in my arms, trying to calm her down.
"P-p-promise?" She hiccups, holding her pinky out to me. Now, she put in a spot.
"Umm--" She starts crying again, making my heart break.
"Promise, baby. We'll go to work today." I say, wrapping my pinky finger around her tiny one.
And she stops crying, like nothing just happened. "Thankies!" She bounces on my hip excited.
"You're a cheeky girl!" I tickle under her chin, stopping just as she coughs again.
"Let's go brush our teeth, your breath stinks." I tease, carrying her into our master bedroom. Our girl has made it very clear two days ago she will only brush her teeth in our bathroom. Why? Because she wants to brush with her 'Misser Neil' and 'Misser Neil' only.
"It doesn't!" Audrey scowls, trying to look scary. She looks more adorable, on the contrary.
"Hi Misser Neil!" Audrey yells out noticing Neil. She coughs just after.
