All too quickly the back garden of the pack house became a war zone. wolves tore into wolves, their claws extended. Despite my hopes I knew the rogues automatically had the advantage. We may have robbed them or surprise but they still had trained excessively in this half state.
I fought, ripped and clawed my way through the armies. My dress looked like rags within 5 minutes, traces of blood seeping through. It would be impossible to name who the red liquid had came from. Some was mine but thankfully most was another's.
I reached the back area and I had already horribly wounded around 25 wolves on my own. It was there I finally saw him.
"Dale!" I called out grabbing his attention from the alpha whose shirt he held on his fist, with claws to the mans neck.
Hearing my voice, he dropped the poor bleeding man to the ground less than 5 feet away from me. "Alex. How nice it is to meet with an old flame." He spoke differently then I remember. The Dale I had known before was a kind and more loving man, something you could hear in his voice. Now there was a malice that resided there, consuming the sweet man I remember. His voice was more of a hiss than his own.
I looked at him as he towered over me and took a deep breath. "Playing with fire will get you burned, you told me that." I commented.
A booming laugh escaped his lips making me brace myself after the loud and sudden noise. Everyone must have heard that. It was louder than the screams and cries of all the dying wounded. "That I did." He smiled, his face still coated in humour. "How are you, Alex?" He smiled looking overly genuine.
I was getting antsy from his nonchalant attitude. My everything was itching just to get this over with. I snapped, "This isn't Oprah, asshole. Fight or fuck off."
Sadness met his features. Dale sighed, shaking his head. "Oh dear. I was hoping this would have gone very differently." With a quick wave of Dales hand my arms were hooked by another werewolf which pinned my back to their chest. I thrashed and kicked, pulling against their hold but there preparation for me reaction meant they held on much tighter making it near impossible for me to ever escape, never mind right now. "Oh well. You can't get everything you want. " Dale muttered sadly.
I relented my fight against the human bonds restraining me, an attempt to save my energy. I was surely going to need it. "And tell me, Dale, what is it that you want?"
He looked upset by my question, in fact I suppose I could say that he looked disappointed in me. His reaction definitely caught me off guard.
"You know, I really thought you would have been smart enough to figure that one out."
I narrowed my eyes and said my suspicion. "The moonstone."
He grinned to resemble an alligator in my mind. "Yes, the moonstone, mostly." After his last word I began to watch him carefully. What the hell was mostly supposed to mean? Were they all just here to mess everything up? No, they may be rogues but they're to smart for that idiocy. "If you want the truth it was more 20 80. You were the twenty."
I felt my heart hammering against my chest. Maybe all they wanted was to kill me. Maybe he was just after revenge. After all no one holds a grudge like a werewolf, especially a rogue.
"What did you want with me?"
"I'm still torn." He paced the ground in front of me. "Either to kill you or have you rank in my pack"
Rank? As what, I wondered. There was the slight problem of me never agreeing to such a dumb ass proposal but given my position at the time, I had few option.
