Now, I was going stir crazy. It had been a few days since the attack and I couldn’t stand it anymore. I had to find something to do. Then a thought occurred to me; maybe one of these wolves have an Xbox.
I had gotten dressed that morning into a white tank with a bolero to cover it and a pair of blue jeans. Talk about fashion. On my feet I wore sandals, mostly because they were the first pair of shoes that I came to and I really didn’t care what I wore.
When I opened my door the wolf stationed there nearly knocked his head on the roof, judging by how high he jumped.
"Morning Fido, any mail?" He stuttered over words at my chipper tone. "Tell me you at least fetched the paper." I sighed. Nothing. I shrugged and started to walk away from him. He was no fun. At least when it's Anthony I can have a little fun.
"What are you doing? Where are you going?" He asked, not even leaving time for me to answer between his questions. Wow. Hunter must think so highly of me if that’s who he leaves to guard me. There’s not even two of them anymore. I'm almost offended.
"I'm going to speak to my best friend. Is that all right with you or do I need Hunter to sign a permission slip?" He closed his mouth, no longer looking like a goldfish although he still looked pretty confused. "That’s what I thought." I smiled and glided past him. There was no point in running this time. I knew the protocol after an attack and Hunter would have every healthy wolf stationed along the border to discourage the remaining rogues, if any were in fact left. To try I would be asking for trouble.
That was easy.
I wandered down the stairs onto the floor below. Cassidy's room was on that floor, or at least it was when I was in the pack. No one had told me if she moved out oncce she found her mate and traded up for a honeymoon sweet or something. I was halfway along the hall when I heard a familiar voice and it wasn't Cassidy's - Leon’s. A door to my left was slightly ajar. The first noise I recognised was his laugh. He sounded so happy which drove me to the desire of seeing his smile. I walked through the door.
Pink. That was all I saw. A whole lot of pink. Pink walls, pink curtains, pink bed sheets, pink, pink, pink. Strangely, the room wasn’t what caught my eye. Granted, it was pink and very, very bright but what caught my eye was the feathers around Leon’s neck. I covered my mouth but I sniggered before I could stop myself. Leon turned with a dazed smile on his face but quickly snapped out of it and began pulling the boa away from his neck.
A pressure surrounded an area of my leg and I looked down to see Maddison with her arms wrapped around my leg.
"Hey kid." I ruffled her hair. Maddison laughed letting go and trying to straighten it back out. "Nice scarf." I scoffed.
Leon nervously rubbed the back of his neck and I took another step into the room. "Maddie here decided she wants to change, well, just about everything." I smiled at the girl now rummaging through a pile of clothes. She muttered something before approaching Leon and tugging on his jeans.
"I need my boa back for Alex." She complained.
"What? I thought it was for me?" Leon gasped. He looked hurt but it was obvious to me that he was faking. Maddison wasn’t as in the know as me and believed his every word. With a sigh Leon handed it over and Maddie came running towards me with it trailing behind. She stumbled when she nearly stood on it but reached me nonetheless. I crouched to her level.
