"Evie, come here," Mom yelled from downstairs. I got up and opened my door and looked down the stairs. "All the way, please." I walked downstairs and followed her into the kitchen. "I'm not even going to ask about what is all over you." I looked down and realized she could see the hickeys and bites. I was only wearing a sports bra and really short shorts.

"Oh my G-"

"Don't. I don't care, you're almost seventeen, you can do what you want as long as you are being safe. We just won't tell your father. Now I need you to watch Percy tomorrow night." I sat down at the counter as she grabbed her things. Mom is a realtor so she is always on the go for work and dad, well, he is always working on his next best book.

"Yea, fine."

"You aren't going to fight me on it?" She asked.

"I was supposed to see a movie with Chrissy but she canceled to hang out with her boyfriend so I'm free. I actually kinda like my little brother." Mom smiled at my joke before grabbing her things.

"Great, I am happy you are able to watch him. Dad and I will be in Ohio for the weekend but Gram is taking him Saturday and Sunday. I think Gareth is working this weekend, so really it will just be you and Percy tomorrow night." She began tidying, something she does when stressed.

"You know I can just watch him all weekend, right?" She turned back at me and laughed.

"Honey, I don't think you have the patience to deal with a five-year-old for three whole days, let alone one. Why do you think I have barely had him home since you came back?"

"Where has he been?" I was just now realizing it had been very quiet around here the last two days.

"Grams, you know how she adores him." I nodded before the doorbell rang. "Alright, I'm off, dad is working late so it's just you and the guys tonight." She kissed me on the forehead as I got up to answer the door. When I opened it, I was completely shocked. Eddie's face was swollen and bloody and his lip was split in multiple places.

"Oh my God, Eddie." I rushed him inside and examined his face. "What happened?" I asked taking his hand in mine. I examined both of his hands, which weren't bruised. He didn't fight back against whoever did this to him.

"It was nothing, just uh, a deal gone wrong." I could tell he was lying but didn't want to push until he was cleaned up a little. I moved to take off his jacket and he winced, so I stopped.

"Alright, um, come upstairs with me." I walked forward when I felt Eddie grab my hand. I looked back at him and smiled. I guided him upstairs and grabbed a towel out of the bathroom closet. Eddie was staring at me from the hallway as I turned on the water. "Um, how about you take a shower and I can get you some clothes from Gareth's room then take care of your cuts?"

Eddie nodded and walked into the bathroom. I helped him take off his jacket, going slowly, trying not to hurt him further. Once we got that done, I examined his face again.

"Do you need any other help?" I asked and he just looked at my face. "Eddie?" He shook his head no and pulled his shirt over his head as I reached under the sink for a washcloth for him to use. When I got back up, I noticed bruising all over him, especially near his ribcage. It made me sick seeing him like this, but I had to keep a strong face for him. If I lost it, so might he. I walked towards the door when Eddie stopped me, grabbing my wrist.

"Can you leave the door open?" He asked and I smiled.

"If that's what you need." I walked out of the bathroom and into Gareth's room to find some clothes. I began rummaging through his dresser to find a pair of jeans. I found a black pair and grabbed a pair of boxers before running back to my room to grab the shirt and sweatpants he lent me yesterday. I walked towards the bathroom and set them on the counter. "Are you still doing ok?"
