It's not a date, Munson, keep yourself together. You are only getting high with your best friend's little sister, nothing romantic about that. Right? I sat in my van in front of Gareth's house as I mustered enough courage to walk up to the door to get Evie. Why was I so nervous? It was just Evie. I turned off the van and put out my cigarette. I swung the door open and waited a minute to get out. Something about this felt an awful lot like a date. Once I got out, I wiped my sweaty palms on the front of my jeans and walked up to the door. Gareth was working and I was almost positive their parents wouldn't be home. I knocked on the door and waited, looking up at the awning on the porch. There was a fumbling sound at the door and it opened there she was, as beautiful as ever. Her curly auburn hair was pulled up into a ponytail with her wispy baby hairs here and there. She had on her Hawkins crewneck and a pair of athletic shorts, which fit her oh so well.

"Eddie?" She reached her hand out to my arm and I quickly pulled my eyes back to her face. "Everything ok?"

"Oh, yea. Sorry." She closed the door behind her as we walked down to my van. She seemed much better than she was last weekend and I couldn't help but be proud of her. I could tell she was much happier than she had been the last few weeks with Andy. I opened the van door for her and she turned to me with a smile. "So I was thinking we can hit Family Video, pick out a few films? How does that sound?"

"It sounds great, Eddie." Her hand brushed my shoulder before she got in. I closed the door for her and ran to the other side to get in. I couldn't keep my eyes off of her and she definitely noticed. I started the van and reached into the back to grab my box of tapes so she could pick out what we listened to. "Wow, you are giving me music privileges, I feel so special."

"Well, I don't have anything stupid you can play, so knock yourself out." She giggled before reaching to tune the radio, putting on the Top 40s. "What have I said before? Don't play anything stupid in my van." She continued to laugh and I couldn't hold my smile back. She sang next to me as we drove into town to the movie store. I parked and turned to look at her as she unbuckled. "Why don't you go ahead and pick out a movie or two and I'll go next door and order out food?"

"Sure. I like-" I cut her off as I had her pizza order memorized to heart.

"Pepperoni and black olives," I smiled and she looked surprised.

"How did you know?" She had a faint smile on her lips as she leaned on the armrest. I kept looking at her lips. They looked so soft and I knew they were too. I longed for her lips on mine again, but that wasn't going to happen.

"We've known each other forever, Evie. Of course, I know your favorite toppings." We both got out of the van and walked around the front. I always forgot how short Evie was when she was standing next to me. "I'll be like five minutes, so take your time." She nodded and walked into the store as I walked into the pizza shop. I ordered and paid then walked next door. I looked around for Evie but I couldn't see her, but the shelves were also taller than she was. I walked around a little as I browsed the shelves and I finally found her talking to the guy at the counter. She was twirling on her ponytail as he smiled down at her, totally checking her out. Was she flirting back? I walked over to her and protectively rested my hand on the small of her back.

"Oh there you are," She beamed, leaning into my touch. She showed me the movie on the counter and I laughed.

"The Breakfast Club?"

"Yes, it's so good. You are going to love it." She handed it to the guy as he was staring at me. "Do you want to pick something, Eddie?" I nodded and grabbed her hand, pulling her to the horror section. "Eddie, no. You know I don't like horror." I picked up a movie and looked at the frown on her face.
