"Our appointments are book for 4 o'clock!" Mom shares excitedly placing her phone into the cupholder.
"Perfect!" Margot hums. "That's enough time to start looking for a dress; there are so many types now a days!"
"Where should we go first?" Mom asks glancing back at Jane and I. Jane nudges me. "There's David's bridal, Lorraine Tyne Bridal, Lady Gray Dress Shop."
"David's Bridal should be our last stop." Margot states. "Boutiques tend to be nicer and have more elegant and unique styles." I wonder what 'my dress' would be. I know that I won't even be wearing one for real.
"Lady Grays is closer. Let's start there." I answer. They send me a smile.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Jane whispers. I glance at her with a sigh. "Edward seemed, different."
"Not really." I whisper back. "I'll talk about him after." All it was was a show.
At the bridal shop we are paired with our bridal consultant, Gwen. She ushers us to a couch in front of a pedestal and a mirror.
"Congratulations!" She hums to me with a toothy grin. I bite my lip before offering her a small smile.
"Thank you." I reply. Everyone exchanges names and greetings excitedly.
"What type of dresses are we looking for today?" Gwen asks me. I glance at Jane for help.
"Um." I drag out.
"W-we haven't really looked yet." Jane pitches.
"You always pulled off ballgown styles." Mom adds.
"Form fitting suits you as well." Margot compliments. "And something a little sexy if you'd like." I try not to cringe. "Anything twill make Edward cry and re-fall in love with you all over again." I clear my throat.
"I guess nothing to expensive." I guess.
"Your father and I want to throw in 3,000." Mom pipes up. I almost choke.
"I want to add 3,000 as well!" Margot cries. "Or the couple hundred extra if it's over budget."
"No!' I cry out panicking.
"Nuh uh, we are allowed to." Mom tuts.
"This is my only child's wedding! You're funny if you don't think I'm not going to pitch in for this." Margot states. I shake my head.
"No please, I could never ask -"
"Let us help." Margot pleads.
"I'm not taking a no for an answer." Mom states.
"Mom." I cry out.
"It's final. Now answer Gwen." She says. Gwen clears her throat.
"Sorry, what kind of dresses do you not find flattering?"
"Fish tail dresses aren't really me. I'm sorry. I've been busy so I haven't the slightest clue what I'm interested in."
"That's totally okay." Gwen offers me a smile. "We can try a few styles to narrow it down and go from there." I nod my head. God, what am I doing? "Come to the back with me and I'll go find a few dresses to start."
"Oh, I can't wait!" Margot fans her eyes. Jane gives me a weary smile and mom claps her hands excited. I hesitate before following Gwen. She places me into a room with a mirror love seat and end tables. She leaves me to undress while she hunts down a few dresses. I let out a shaky breath.
" I got this." I mumble the words of encouragement to myself. It's just like plying dress up but knowing you're crazy for doing this. I undress and slip on the silk robe she provided me. I pull my phone out as it goes off.
