"We have a client that came in, they want to speak to you regarding an employee they had an issue with." Marianne says over the phone. "I sent them up, they will be there in a minute."
"Did they specify?" I ask.
"They'll explain to you in depth. I was just passing them on my way out to lunch. But I am going to let you go." She says. "Let me know how it goes."
"Will do." I sigh hanging up. I guess I'm it since they're still looking for Mr. Scotts official replacement. I tap my fingers anxiously waiting on the arrival of the client. It's odd though. Now a days, the client usually calls if they have any issues. The door slams open.
"Alright Bernard. You, me, right now." Jane states immediatley sitting down and crossing her arms over her chest.
"Jane." I sigh. "I'm waiting on a client."
"I'm who you're waiting for." She states.
"I'm working-"
"Nope. You do work here and we have an issue, so we are going to talk about this now. It's been 11 days. It's December 20th if you haven't realized and I am not returning your Christmas presents because you're putting this quarrel off."
"Jane I just don't know how to work this out because I'm not sorry for my decision." I state.
"I'm not sorry either." She says before sighing and relaxing her posture. "But I was thinking and it's okay that we don't agree on a situation. We're allowed to disagree as long as we hear what the other person has to say."
"I did hear you out." I state. "I understand why you feel the way you do. I'm just taking the Rosie way out." I shrug.
"I am sorry though for saying that you run away from everything. That was wrong for me to say even though I was upset." She states.
"You are right though." I mumble.
"But I have no right saying anything like that." She says. "You're my best friend Ro, and best friends don't do that. I was a shitty friend."
"Jane it's okay. I know you just want the best for me." I respond. "I will always be by your side regardless, and I know that you're here for me."
"Always bitch." She sighs. "Are we okay though? Let me tell you, it's been a long 11 days."
"Yes." I answer with a smile. She beams jumping up. She tackles me with a hug once I'm out of my chair. I squeeze her tightly. "I love you."
"I love you." She sings letting me go. "Well, what's been up? Anything interesting happen? Did Will write you?"
"No." I give her a weird look for bringing Will up. "Well actually something did happen a few days ago."
"Oh yeah?" She asks. I nod glancing at my hand.
"Edward proposed with a ring." I state meeting her eyes. I wait for the freak out. She lets out a sigh.
"Rosie." She says lightly. "If you said yes, I'm locking you in my basement!"
"Do you really think so low of me?" I ask. "Of course I said no." She looks up as if she's thanking god.
"Thank the lord. I'm proud of you!" She sighs in relief. "Who did he think he was? What happened after?"
"He was mad more like upset. It was hard." I explain. "But we both know that it's over. Forever. It was good closure. He talked to his mom after. They're going to sit down with his dad after Christmas."
"How'd the ring look?" She asks raising an eyebrow. "Did you keep it?"
"No!" I laugh. "It was beautiful. Like if this was a few months ago, I would have said yes and been roped back in just for the ring."
