"Why are you ignoring me?" William asks. Not this again!
"I'm not." I respond. I am. After last night, I am ashamed. I mean, only I know what happened in my head but still.
"Yes you are." He tests.
"No, I am not. I am working." I say.
"What's on your mind?" He pokes. I look up at him finally. He leans over my desk, leaning on his hands. His eyes beg for all of my secrets. 'Honestly I'm really attracted to you Will, but you probably won t find out.' "Are you at least ok?"
"Yes." I assure with a smile. He lets out a sigh. "How was your night by the way?" 'he sits down in an arm chair.
"Good." He states.
"The circles under your eyes tell me otherwise." I tease checking my email.
"It was just a long night. We all have that." He says. "How was yours? How was dinner?" I bite my lip thinking about it.
"Dinner was good." I say. He stays silent. I catch up on emails before looking at him again.
"What are you doing after work?" He asks.
"Um, going home." I state the obvious.
"No plans?" He asks. I shake my head. "So you want to go out with me for a snack?" My eyes hold his with hesitation. I try to grasp what he just asked. "I want to see the bakery Jane works at. " Jane could be a cover, but I feel like me going out will make Edward annoyed.
"I might have to pass." I say. Hi smile fades slightly.
"That's fine. I thought I'd offer." He replies. I nod and look back at my screen. He finally leave. I let out a sigh feeling upset. I just got Edward back. I don't want to do anything to make him upset again. I can't go through this again.
At home, I lay on the couch waiting for Edward to return with Chinese. He is taking a little longer than usual. I feel guilty for not saying yes to Will. I would have loved to see Jane and enjoy our time. Edward seemed to be in a good mood, so I think I chose the right decision.
"Sorry I took so long." Edward calls. "I stopped and got cannoli's for desert!"
"Don't worry about it." I say getting up. I sit at the table. He hands me a box of rice and my broccoli and chicken. He sits down too and digs in. My eyes fall on the box of cannoli's. "Where'd you get them from?" He wipes his mouth.
"The bakery on East street. They are having a sale." He says. "I think it's called "My Little Bakery"". That's the bakery Jane works at. She must be slammed. At least I know the cannoli's will taste good. After dinner Edward jumps into the shower as I clean up. Once I am done I say in bed and check my phone. I freeze seeing multiple texts form Jane and Will.
Will: Hi, so Jane is my best friend now. We need to hire her as our personal chef.
Will: Are you okay?
Oh my god. Best friends? I look at Janes texts.
Jane: Will is hereeeee!!!!
Jane: You should have came with him.
Jane: He is amazing and I approve whenever you finally get with him.
Jane: Edward is here.
Jane: I think my co worker knows him.
Jane: Rosie?
Jane: We need to talk. I think they are more than acquaintances.
Jane: Also, Will may have been a witness.
