[Day 30]

Despite being well aware of the time and of course what day it was, Bdubs couldn't help it. He allowed himself to sit in his garden and breathe. The castle felt too quiet, empty. Everyone was already outside, most likely finding their seats and talking amongst themselves.

He glanced over at the bouquet of carnations and lilies in mixes of reds, pinks, and whites carefully propped up on the bench. "I probably shouldn't keep him waiting any longer," he whispered, standing up.

With the flowers clutched in his hand, he walked down the halls, hearing his footsteps echo around him.

It was a long walk alone.

Yet, he didn't entirely mind it.

When he neared the grand doors blocking him from the reception, he found his soon-to-be-husband with his back to him. He was shaking himself out, yet kept the hand holding his bouquet of matching flowers - except in shades of blue - as still as possible.

Arguably, this was Bdubs' favorite part of the entire day.

The way that Doc turned around to see him, the way he immediately lit up at the sight of him. The way that his face flushed, grip ever so subtly tightened on the bouquet.

That was all just for him.

No need to fret about what other royals and nobles think of him, just Doc's eyes on him.

"You're so... handsome," Doc breathed.

Admittedly Bdubs was if not equally as entranced by him. "And you're gorgeous," he whispered, moving closer to shrink the space between them. He wanted to pull him down into a kiss right then and there. As if reading his mind, the hybrid leaned down to meet his forehead. "What if we ran away right now, and spent our lives living in the woods?"

When Doc laughed, butterflies swarmed his stomach. "That's too tempting right about now." Bdubs' smile softened, but before he could respond, the sound of chairs moving and feet shuffling alerted them that the audience outside was standing and the doors were about to open. The Oropolian prince's nose was quickly pressed to his forehead before he moved to stand beside him.

With a simple spell, the doors opened out, and suddenly all eyes were on them.

Some would consider it to be a bad habit that Doc could tell where cameras were located, given that when filmed it was typically best to not look directly into the lens. But it was hard not to, given the multiple drones above and around so civilians could watch alongside those in the seats.

As much as he wanted to reach over and squeeze Prince Bdubs' hand to feel some reassurance, he kept both hands on the bouquet as instructed. Thankfully, the late morning sun was forgiving, although the walk down the aisle felt longer than he remembered.

Thankfully, they managed to reach the end and after passing off the bouquets - Doc's to xB and Bdubs' to Keralis - they faced each other as the ceremony officially commenced. The moment the couple joined hands Doc suddenly couldn't hear anything the woman was saying. He was completely gone in Bdubs' face. It was still a marvel to him how quickly he had changed, how quickly they warmed up to each other when at first it seemed like all Doc would ever know was the small, fake smile he wore when they met.

Of course, then came along the anxiety of if Bdubs were to lose interest in him. A whole life to love him felt nearly impossible for anyone. He wanted to believe he'd always love Bdubs, but he'd understand if that wouldn't always be reciprocated.

He realized the speech was coming to a close and quickly grounded himself. After all, he had his own speech to give; his vows.

Despite his genuine smile and his grip on Bdubs' hands, the rehearsed words flowing from his mouth felt shallow and fake. He had to assume it was rare for someone's wedding vows to have guidelines to meet. As instructed, he spoke about how the strength of their love will grow, much like the combined kingdoms' strength. He spoke of his happiness regarding the unity, and how excited he was to spend the rest of his life beside the other prince.
