THE MEETING CONTINUED in the boardroom. The woman stood at the end of the table speaking to the rest of her colleagues who sat and listened. A large screen behind her displayed a chart of their company's earnings and budget.
"Except for our research project, there's a short fall for this quarter." She said and turned to face them. "So, starting today, expense account lunches are limited to one entree and a single alcoholic beverage."
There was an audible groan from the rest. One man turned to his coworker. "You've got to be kidding me."
One other employee was visibly annoyed too. Suddenly, his expression changed upon looking behind the woman. He stuttered as he pointed.
"Christ, Anderson, if you have something to say...just say it." The woman replied with an eye roll.
She then heard crackling behind her. Turning around, the woman saw the television screen shut off and a hole was being cut in the wall along with the screen. Moments later, the wall was blown open and the board members fell out of their seats.
Through the smoke, two men in jet packs flew in holding high-powered rifles. They also sported helmets with glowing visors and armor that also emitted a glow of their respective colors.
A security guard burst through the double doors of the office and eyed the men. He fired his handgun at one of them but the bullets didn't penetrate his armor. The gunman immediately retaliated by shooting the guard down with his own rifle. Some of the members cried out as the guard fell to the floor.
"Everyone be quiet! Heads down!" The man yelled.
They did as told. Moments later, another man crashed through the skylight above them. Their leader, sporting the same armor, landed on the glass-covered table. The woman raised her head and looked at him.
"Allow me to introduce ourselves..." The leader, Luke Carlyle, began as he removed his helmet. "We are Pterodax. The name given to us affectionally, by our winged dinosaur friend...the Pterodactyl."

He walked across the table and eyed each member as he continued. "We fly. We have tough hides, and we will tear you apart if you cause us any trouble."
Luke turned to his colleagues. "Josef, stand guard outside. Mason, the wall."
They went off to their duties. Mason went up to the wall on the other side of the room and began to scan it with a device. After some time, the tech emitted a chime and he turned to Luke, giving him a nod.
