IN THE RESTAURANT, the young blonde woman waited at the table. It had been about half an hour waiting for her date to arrive, but he hadn't shown up. Even the constant texts and calls to the man weren't enough. He was still a ghost.

She waited there for another thirty minutes. Still, no show. The woman put her chin on her palm and let out a breath, adjusting the glasses on her face.

Did the guy really forget?

The blonde decided to check her social media, and it was there that she saw a post from one of her date's buddies.

It showed him with his friends at a bar in SoHo watching a basketball game. She stared at the post and scrolled through the photos. She felt cheated...ignored...somewhat forgotten. She felt outcasted, which was a feeling she always loathed.

The fact that he didn't even give her the courtesy of canceling or telling her about his plans made her upset. The blonde swallowed and got up from her seat, leaving the restaurant.

The boys cheered upon seeing the team on the screen score the basket. Jake took a swig of his beer bottle and high-fived his buddy across the table.

As he laughed, his friends looked behind him and arched a brow. He wondered what they were staring at and turned around, seeing the blonde woman storming toward them. He let out a breath and rolled his eyes.

"Ah, crap." He muttered.

Immediately, the girl spoke. "Jake? Wha...what the hell?"

"Lorina..."

"I was waiting for you at Friedman's. I was calling you and—"

"Yeah, yeah. Well..." Jake put his bottle down. "Something came up."

"And you couldn't give me the courtesy of telling me?" Lorina asked. "Instead of having me wait there for an hour?"

Jake scoffed and rubbed his brow, closing his eyes

Jake scoffed and rubbed his brow, closing his eyes. His friends just looked on at the somewhat awkward conversation. Lorina spoke again.

"I believe I deserve that—"

"You believe what you want to believe," Jake interjected. "Like...I believed this was never serious."

The statement took Lorina aback. "What?"

"It was just a fling. A couple dates here and there. I got what I want."

After his remark, he smirked at his friend and bumped his fist. Lorina stood there, shocked and betrayed. She felt like she was taken advantage of and just thrown aside.

Jake looked back at Lorina, who was just silent. He scoffed and let out a chuckle.

"Come on...you didn't think this would go anywhere, right? Sure, you're a cool gal, but it just wasn't gonna work out in the long run. But we had our fun, didn't we?"
