It was an average day for Sarah at the Avengers Compound, she was running sparring bouts in the training room with her dad. Hand to hand combat, Rogers against Rogers and father against daughter. "Is that the best you got? Come on old man." Sarah teased her father as she bounced around him guard up and eyes locked on his. Her father smirked,

"Oh Yeah... bet I could still teach you a few things." He swung towards her but was stunned as she back-flipped over him and kicked him to the ground as she landed. She stood over him smiling with a smugness on her face, which was shortly lived when she felt something touch her legs. Quicker than a bullet, she was on the floor after her father swung for her legs and took her down to the floor beneath him.

"Ergh!" she grunted as she hit the ground with a thud.

"What did I just tell you?" her father questioned her, landing on top of her pinning her down with his arms wrapped around her legs.

"Never be too quick until the battle is definitely and clearly won." She grunted in frustration as her father released her and helped her back to her feet. He began to lecture her, annoyed at her cockiness.

"Never be too quick to turn your back on your opponent is from what?" he asked, as she poised herself back into her defensive position Sarah replied,

"The Art of War! Chapter 23, section 5 line 8. Dad! Enough! I'm tired of these lessons and training simulations. I'm ready for a real mission!" she sighed as he gave her a stern look.

He was silent, he didn't know how to reply without wanting to sound horrible. He gave a deep sigh,

"Sarah..." he was cut off by a knock at the door.

It was Natasha and Sam, both Steve and Sarah turned in synch.

"Fury wants to see us in his office." Sam said,

"Stark and Banner arrive in 5 minutes, they say it's pretty urgent." Natasha finished. Steve looked at Sarah whose face was full of annoyance now, again she had been ignored and dismissed so quickly.

"Go ahead. You're needed...Captain!" Sarah spitefully said as she pushed her way past her father and through Sam and Natasha.

"Sarah? Sarah!" Steve called out to his daughter, but she gave no response as she ignored him as headed for her room. Natasha turned to Steve, seeing the pain in his eyes, and she'd been there each time to pick up the pieces, with Bucky, Peggy and with Sharon. She treated Sarah like a younger sister and Natasha could see how distant Steve had become from his daughter, and the guilt he always felt.

"You can't keep her locked away forever Steve." Natasha said.

"It's not up for discussion... it's for her own protection." he replied. Steve looked to Sam before leaving the room, Natasha gave a sigh as she looked over to Sam who shrugged his shoulders before they both followed him to Nick's office.

Sarah's room:

Sarah slammed her bedroom door violently shut behind her as she stormed into her room. Growling out in frustration, she threw her bag to the floor and went to stand in front of the punchbag in the corner of the room. Swinging her arms in front of her, Sarah began to punch the bag as hard as she possibly could.

She had been punching it for half an hour, bleeding her knuckles dry she began to seethe in anger, growing stronger in punches to the point where her punchbag flew from its chains and off across the floor. She paced in circles in her room for a few seconds before throwing herself onto her bed. She began to cry, sniffling and rasping out until after a while she had eventually cried herself to sleep.

Nick Fury's Office:

Everyone was gathered around Nick's desk and Hills stood beside him. Natasha, Wanda and Rhodes were sitting in each corner of the room, facing the desk. Sam, Barton and Steve stood in a perfect line at the window, whilst Banner and Tony sat across from each other on the table across from Nick.

"The situation in London has developed drastically..." Hills began

"We've had reports from an anonymous source that Loki has returned." Nick finished, and everyone's ears twitched at the sound of his name. They all looked at each other. That name made each and every one of their skin crawl.

"What's he up to this time?" Stark sarcastically asked.

"That's the thing...We don't know." Maria said. The team knew that it was never good if no one knew. Especially if Nick Fury didn't know, and it made them all the more nervous.

"Now we all know how much trouble he caused last time." Nick stated, looking directly at Steve, Loki had caused Steve's unhappiness, and everyone knew what he had done. Everyone except Sarah. "The first sign of trouble we get, I need all of you to be ready..." Nick continued, giving Steve a stern look "...and I mean ALL of you!" Steve shook his head quickly in response, stepping away from the window. Rhodes spoke quickly after with,

"You mean Sarah too?"

Steve quickly responded, "NO! Absolutely not!" and began to raise his voice. Sam came over to his side, placing his hand on his shoulder.

"Steve?" Sam tried to reason with him, being the friend he always was. But was brushed off with,

"NO!" Steve said again. Natasha stood up and walked forwards,

"Nick's right Steve, she's ready..." Natasha was interrupted by Steve interjecting before she could finish.

"NO! She's not!" he began to grow in frustration raising his voice, "She's my daughter and I say she stays here." Nick looked at the others who simply said nothing. Looking to Nick then back to Steve.

"With all due respects Cap'n, Sarah is more than just your daughter." Nick said in confidence.

"With all due respects sir..." Steve began to mock in his anger, "She's my daughter and I can't go into a mission, knowing that she's there knowing that ... that I can't protect her." Stark stood from his chair, everyone was still. Silent.

"Steve. She's excelled in every test and passed every simulation we've thrown at her. She's ready and you know she is. You gotta let her do this." Tony tried to advise Steve, but he wouldn't listen,

"No! I lost her mother to Loki. I'm Not losing her too!" and with that, Steve walked out of Nick's office. The others looked to Nick, who gave a deep sigh.
