Third Person's POV
October 15, 1997
As a month and a half went by, both Michael and Whitney were continuing to rise as the megastars they were. Although Whitney had to briefly go back to the U.S. for a Washington Concert that was being filmed by HBO, she quickly returned to Michael and their children as they were to prepare for what would be Michael's final show of the HIStory Tour that very night in Durban, Africa.
One and a half hours later...
The show was going remarkably well. Both Michael and Whitney got to perform the duet, I Just Can't Stop Loving You, and all four of the children got to be there as it was Michael's final show of the tour.
Currently, Michael was in his dressing room with the children getting ready for his final performance while Whitney was standing outside of the dressing room on the phone with her former manager, Clive Davis.
Angry that she was even talking to him, Whitney yelled into her phone,
"What the Hell do you want Clive?!"
Clive responded, "I think you know very well why I'm calling, Nippy."
She sassed back, "Nuh-uh! You don't get to call me Nippy! Not after the way you tried to stab me and my husband in the back! In fact, you shouldn't even be calling me right now! Not after all the shit you done caused!"
Clive said, "Whitney, Arista is a mess without you. Sales have plummeted ever since you left, and barely any talent has signed to us after what you said back in 95' during your Diane Sawyer interview with Michael."
Whitney fired back, "Yeah, I said all of that! Everyone deserves to know what kind of a slimy, scumbag you are! Listen Clive, you already made your bed, so now you gotta lay in it!"
Clive said while starting to get impatient,
"Whitney, Arista needs you back."
Stunned by his audacity, Whitney snapped,
"Mhmm, and how is that my problem?! You had your chance to be a good manager, support my career, and stay out of my personal life, but you couldn't do that could you? You not only tried to ruin my career, but you tried to ruin my marriage! And what's worse, you insulted my children! I was a lot happier once I dropped your ass as my manager and I'll continue to be happier without you!"
Getting angry, Clive snapped, "You have no idea what you've just said to me, Whitney! I told you I was a powerful man! I told you that you would regret the day you got rid of me! But do you listen to me? NO! You may think you and your wacko husband are gonna stomp out Arista with your supposed new label, but you two are nothing more than an overhyped, poster couple for the black community!"
