Michael's POV

March 30, 1998

It's been about two months since Whitney and I had heard from Bobby, and so far, things have begun to settle.

After receiving Bobby's threats to take Bobbi Kristina from us, Whitney and I took matters into our own hands and went to the courthouse and I adopted Bobbi Kristina. Officially making her, Bobbi Kristina Houston Brown-Jackson!

Although I had and will always consider Bobbi Kristina a Jackson, doing this not only helps to protect her from Bobby, but also ensures us in the events that both Whitney and I were to pass away, she would also go with the rest of my children to live with my mother. While I do love the Houstons dearly, I know Whitney personally doesn't trust some of the members of her family due to some of her in-laws' past antics of trying to gain off of her financially.

She does keep her distance towards them, but she still carries just as much love for her nieces and nephews as she would for our own children.

In the meantime, I was in the living room with the children while Whitney was in our office talking on the phone with Missy 'Misdemeanor' Elliot about a collaboration for her next album, My Love Is Your Love.

I was already in the process of writing a song that resonated greatly with me, called The Lost Children. There are many children that suffer through this world, whether it would be through abuse, bullying, poverty, ect. But especially those that run away, are taken from their homes, or even beaten, raped, or murdered, never to return to their families.

And this resonated with me greatly because it almost happened to my daughter. The night of the Cinderella Premiere really frightened me as a father, to know that Michaela could've very well been taken away from me and never seen again.

Bobby can say whatever he wants to try and justify his actions, or even lie and say that he was just gonna take Kristina, but I know that he's no idiot. Number one, he hasn't even contacted or seen his daughter in years. And number two, why would he try to grab Michaela when his supposed motives were to get Krissi? He may be a fool, but he couldn't be that dumb enough to mistake my own child for his! I knew there had to be bigger motives behind that night.

I know Clive had something to do with this, he's been calling, harassing and threatening us ever since Whitney dropped him as her manager. He's just mad that he can't control her life anymore, and because of that, he will do whatever's necessary to get to us, even if it means taking out our children. And that's something that Whitney and I haven't been taking lightly either.

Since the kidnapping incident, we filed a restraining order against that Devil and we're still waiting for it to get approved by the court. But no matter what it takes, I will do everything in my power to protect my family.

But going back to The Lost Children, I was sitting on the living room couch with my children as they were helping me along with the writing process. After going back and forth with it, I decided to let them sing the background vocals. And since they were a part of the song, I thought it would be nice to let them in on the songwriting process.
