! self-harm, sexual assault of a minor, night
terrors!

I was sitting on my bed flipping through a random book that Silas got on his shopping trip.

Books are an escape for me. All I wish is to escape into the worlds I see on pages. You know, become a vampire, or be one of the most successful detectives.

However we can't always escape our reality, so you have to find temporary ways to do so.

I slam my book closed out of surprise when I hear a knock on my door.

"Come in," I say loud enough to be heard.

The door opens and Theo walks in, he raises his eyebrows at my read.

"You like reading?" He gestures to the now closed book.

I nod my head slowly "Uhh yeah... I had a lot of books at my home but um.." My shoulders drop at the reminder.

Theo moved down and sits down next to where I'm laying. "Hey, it's alright. You can always have some of mine since Silas didn't get you many." He says gently while rubbing comforting circles with his thumb on my knee.

A small smile breaks on my face. "Yeah, I'd like that" I wonder if he has picture books.

Theo suddenly stands up and extends a hand towards me, offering me to take it. "How about we play a little game to... get to know each other" he adds.

"I like games," I say while sitting up.

I take his hand and he leads me to the familiar room that belongs to Theo, he walks me in and cracks the door.

I stand in his room awkwardly not really knowing where he wants me. I don't know if he likes people in his space in general.

He chuckles at my confusion "Here you can sit on my bed, make yourself comfortable." He says gently with a smile.

I step over to his bed, I hop onto the mattress and I make a bounce when I do making me giggle. Theo rummages around a shelf before he turns back to me with a... box?

I tilt my head in confusion. He walks over to his bed and sits across from me, making sure there's distance for my comfort I'm guessing.

"How does a game of chess sound?" He says while smiling. "Okay" I give him a small thumbs up.

"Alright so... this isn't just a silent normal game of chess, basically after I move my piece I'm going to ask you a question and you have to answer truthfully, the same goes for you."

Seems easy enough.

"Yeah sure why not, it's just question for question. What does the person who wins the chess game get?." I ask nervously at the end.

He smirks, "Anything they want."

I nod "So if I asked you to eat a spoonful of mustard, you would?" I ask curiously.
