Akuyaku was jealous of Aoi Koharu in more ways than one, that was the only thing in life he was sure of. His sickness had come back after Aku-no left him. He was never good enough for the creature, which became evident throughout the years as the only thing Aku-no liked about him was his hatred for the world, but even that can change.
Now, there was Aoi Koharu, his replacement. He was jealous of her, everything she had that he didn't. As much as Akuyaku had grown to hate the presence of the snake, it was all he ever actually had.
Akuyaku hadn't gone to school in a while, Aku-no saw no point in enrolling him for any reason, so throughout the ages he just had to learn from the random bits of information he'd come upon. Even now despite being enrolled in Gakuen Academy he never went, if it weren't for the circumstances of the school he'd have failed 10 times over by now. If it wasn't for Aku-no he would've gone. He had to keep up the charade with Aoi, the education, the work, the quality family time. It was something he deeply missed, his parents weren't always the best and his sickness didn't help either but there was a time when they weren't gone.
Akuyaku was jealous of Aoi Koharu in a lot of ways, but as he watched the girl's sister help her up off the ground and clean the wet leaves off her back that wasn't the only thing he felt.
