The week went by quietly. Nothing happened, with Elizabeth or the 2p's. Romeo didn't bring up what they talked about but he and Alyona were talking again at least. Canada had found a therapist for them. Even Aku-no was strangely quiet.
Alyona sat at the foot of her bed, looking over the sheet music the teacher gave to her, along with the key that was supposed to teach her everything.
"Did they help you learn the symbols and notes?" Aoi asked as she sat down next to her.
"Yes... nyet, it's so confusing none of this makes sense. And this stupid paper isn't helping either." Alyona held up the key.
"What part is confusing?"
"Vse!." Alyona sighed. "Everything," she repeated in English.
"Well, let me help you," Aoi peeked over Alyona's shoulder at her piano music. "Um," she pointed at the two clefs on the paper, "the clefs. The top one is your treble clef, also known as the G clef. This swirly part here is in the middle of the line, signaling it is G. Going upwards the higher the note, going down is lower. You play treble with your right hand."
"Ladno," Alyona mumbled.
Aoi continued. "The one below the treble line is the bass Clef, also known as the F clef. The collins are between the line of F and you play it with your left hand. Bass and treble clef are completely different; lines and spaces wise on the staff."
"You lost me."
Aoi stood up, pulling her sister down the hall to the room where Canada kept his piano. "I think you are more of a visual learner, Alyona." she softly giggled. She sat her sister down on the piano bench, sitting down next to her.
"This is your middle C," she pressed on the key, the sound rang clear through the room. "It the center of the piano. Your thumb goes there, index goes on the D key, middle on E, so on and so forth." Aoi played each of the keys as she described them. "Octave down, Your thumb goes on G, index on F, etc." She took her hand off and placed Alyona's fingers on each key.
Canada could hear the sounds of his piano from downstairs, it'd been forever since he played it he almost thought his house was haunted. Then he remembered Kuma, then he remembered his daughters. Canada walked upstairs to the study he kept it in. "How is it going you two?" He asked.
"I'm helping Alyona with reading notes and where to put her hands," Aoi answered, smiling back at him.
"Yeah, it's confusing, but I'm getting the hang of it," Alyona added.
Canada smiled. "Your new class is on music theory, right?"
"Da, but I only know the basics of most Russian instruments and the teacher's papers are no help, so Aoi's helping," she explained.
"Hai, I play a lot of instruments."
Canada picked Kumajiro up from off the floor as he wandered into the room. "Okay well I'll let you two be." He walked off with the bear in his arms.
Aoi turned back to her sister and continued explaining the principles to her. "My my," Aku-no spoke up, "what a heartfelt moment, sure would be a shame if something were to happen."
Aoi stood up in surprise, her sister looked at her, confused. "I'll uh, be right back, I just remembered I forgot to finish one of my assignments and it's due tomorrow." She backed out of the room before Alyona could ask her any more questions and quickly ran into their bedroom, shutting the door behind her.
Alyona practiced on.
