" Like missing, missing? Or like poster, missing? "
☾☀︎︎VALERIE WALKED DOWN THE DIMLY lit streets. She knew she had to be back before the street lights came on, but she didn't know if she'd make it in time, due to her slowness.
She entered her neighborhood, continuing to walk along the side walk, as she passed multiple houses with wired fences.
She slowly passed Finn and Gwens house, meaning her house was just around the corner. She slowly passed a tall wood light post. A piece of paper with bold letter hanging on it. Something told her she should go back and check it, so she did.
She took a few steps backwards, stopping at the street light, that was yet to turn on. Her eyes stopped on the flyer, reading over the big bold letters.
MISSING.
Those six scary words. Under it was a picture of a kid. One she recognized. Her breath got caught in her throat as she realized who that kid was.
Robin.
A picture of him when he was younger was attached, blowing in the wind.
She swore she felt her heart stop beating, like it was being torn out of her chest. She wanted to collapse, scream, as if it was going to do anything. It was like the first time she saw and heard about Robin being missing. And here it was again.
She thought it was her mind playing cruel jokes on her, so she pinched her arm as hard as she could, but to no avail.
She tried to hold the tears, but they came streaming down quicker than she could stop them. Her hands placed themselves over his picture, tracing out his outline.
Why couldn't it be her. She thought to herself.
It confused her so much. The last time a kidnapping happened in this town was when the grabber was around. And that's exactly what Valerie's first thought was.
It could just be a coincidence. But why Robin? It was almost like someone was coming back for revenge. And they were coming straight for those kids.
Her sobs came to a stop as anger took over her. She completely skipped the first stage. Grief. Instead skipping straight to sadness and anger.
She wondered how nobody thought to tell her. Nobody decided that it would be a good idea to call her and tell her. Although they didn't talk no more, doesn't mean she wouldn't want to hear if something happened. And now there was a high possibility he was dead.
