Soon the school day has ended,Max
still has Lucas sweatshirt covering up
that stain. Max was walking out when
Lucas called after her,she was met
with those mesmerizing brown eyes.
"Yeah?"Max says snapping out of
her gaze,"since we have that project
together I was wondering could I
have your number.." Lucas says
Messing with the bottom of his
shirt.
"Yeah sure, do you have your phone
on you?"Max says messing with the
edges on the hoodies sleeve, "yeah
here"Lucas passes her his phone and
she starts to type in the number.
"See you at 5:00 so we can work on the
project"Max says smiling as she walks away.
"I'm shocked he didn't ask for the hoodie back"
Max thinks to herself,Max rides her skateboard
down the road making her way to her house.
Once Max turn the door knob all the scents
of cigarettes and beer fill her nostrils."Maxineee..." Neil calls in a creepy voice.
"Who's sweatshirt is that?" Neil says
pausing,
" SHIT I HAVE HIS HOODIE ON" Max thinks to herself." My friend Jane's"she says calmly.
Neil looks at her for a little and walks away.
Max let's out a breath she didn't know she
was holding and travels to her room.
She plops on her bed taking deep breaths and
then grabs her headphones,"I'll just set a alarm
for 4:40 so I'm ready" Max thinks to herself.
Max places in her earphones and plays the song
"Separation anxiety by eyedress".The ginger
haired girl sat in her bed thinking about everything that has happened in a short period of time.
Before she knew it,it was time to go to the
Sinclair household, Max lifted herself from
the bed and put her shoes back on and walked
out her room,but Neil had other plans.

"Maxine where do you think your going"Neil said..Calmly?Those 7 words made Max come to
A halt Right in front of the front door,He breath
became shaky as Neil walked, Closer,and closer,
and closer.Each footstep panicked Max.
"I said, Where are you going."Neil said
Bolding his words, "A friends house for
a project"Max says trying to stay calm, "Boy
or girl, and don't lie to me" Neil said as his
breath reached her nose smelling of alcohol.
"Boy"Max mumbled, Neil grabs her by the
front of these jacket and hits her against the wall
leaving her there. Max's head pounded as Neil
spoke louder. "BOY OR GIRL MAXINE"
Neil yells.
"BOY" Max yells right back at him, Neil slaps
Max across the face, "do not. AND I MEAN
DO NOT, YELL AT ME AGAIN DO U
UNDERSTAND "Neil yells at the girl who's eyes is filling with tears."I understand"
Max says through gritted teeth.
Neil drops her body down onto the floor and kicks her in the rib as he stumbled to Billy's
room. Max sat there for a minute taking deep
breaths before she checked the time, 4:40
it read. "20 Minutes left" Max thinks to herself.
Max rises from the floor rubbing her side
to maybe sooth the pain, Max walks out the
door quietly trying to avoid her father,
Or should she just call him Neil.
She puts in her headphones and plays
the song "Washing machine heart
by mitski". The lyric flowed through
one ear to the next,

By time the song ended Max had made
It to the Sinclair house hold, Hopefully
she's wasn't interrupting anything.
