Max had been sitting on Lucas's bathroom
countertop as Lucas needed to her bleeding
cuts,"This shit Burns like hell!" Max says as
her eyes squeezed closed. Lucas had been
applying alcohol to her cuts trying his best
not to hurt her.
"Sorry! Sorry" Lucas says watching Max
squirm. Once Lucas was done cleaning her
cuts she jumped down from the countertop.
"So do you want to talk about it or no" Lucas
says cleaning up the supplies.
"Well uh, My mom and Dad got divorced while we were in California, so my mom thought it was the best for Her, and only her.So we moved out of California and came to Hawkins.
In the beginning of our stay in Hawkins,my mom met my stepdad and he has a son named Billy... which is now my step brother. My mom
and stepdad got married a little after my 13th
birthday, everyone in the family claimed the last name Hargrove but I still stick with mayfield,it's just suits me better.
It reminds me of my father who I have little contact with, My stepdad now just takes any
chance he can to Punch me, Kick me, any type
on damage he could possibly think of in his
sick twisted mind, it makes me want to throw
up at times but here we are."
Max had never realized how tragic her life actually was until she explained it to Lucas,
It felt like she had a weight lifted off of her
chest. "Max... that's horrible no one should
have to go through that, especially you."Lucas says as he looked into her crystal blue eyes.
Max had tears threatening to spill at any moment
just thinking about how bad it was, Lucas brought her into a hug as he rested his head over top over her head. Lucas felt horrible for Max.
Her cries turned into sobs,sobs turned into sniffles."sorry." She says as she looks at the wall behind Lucas. "No no it's fine" Lucas says reassuring her,"that's the longest someone has hugged me since I left my dad"Max says sniffing as she weakly smiled.
Lucas absolutely hated seeing her this way,
it was truly heartbreaking.He wanted to be
There for her."Do you need somewhere to stay?"
Lucas asked,"no i should be good but hopefully
my stepdad is sleep when I get home" Max
says as she started to get up.Lucas looked into
Max's blue eyes as they were glossy as she looked
back into his eyes.
"I would feel much better If your stayed Max,
only for tonight I can't risk you getting hurt again"Lucas says speaking up." Okay I guess...
But I don't have any clothes to change in."
Max says looking down at her worn out converse.
"You can borrow a hoodie and some old
sweats I have" Lucas says walking towards
his closet. He grabbed some grey sweats and
a blue hoodie that has a skeleton on it.
"Thanks" max says as she walks towards his bathroom to change. Max knew this was
gonna be a long night since her eyes were
slowly consumed by slumber. She quickly
changed her clothes and walked back in
the bedroom.
"I can take the floor if you want" Max says offering,"no no you can take the bed I'll figure
something out you seem tired" Lucas says as he gave her a extra pillow. Max lifted herself onto the bed and slumber immediately consumed
her.

The next day at school was a Friday, Lucas walked into the school thinking about the previous night, and so was Max. They both
we're in their mind as they walked to the first
class of the day. Lucas was holding onto the
project as he walked, he luckily finished it
a little after Max fell asleep.
They both walked in together and walked to
their seats,"who's going to speak about it?"
Max says as her leg started to shake.Lucas
took notice of this and spoke up, "I'll do it"
Lucas says giving her a small smile.
There was a Thick tension between the two
for some Random reason, it wasn't in a bad way
it's just the two has experienced a lot. "Lucas
and Max your up" Mr.Clarke says giving them
a thumbs up. Lucas gives Max a look the read,
"Like That's gonna Help",Max giggled and walked to the front.
The two presented their project while
constantly getting death glares from savanna,
also Mike smirking at the two,Will and Dustin
smiling at the two,"and that's all about space"
Max said as she finished off the project.
Everyone applauded, minus savanna,as the
two went back to sitting at their seats.
They two kept finding there eyes reaching each other eyes, and that's when they realized.
They loved each other and there's nothing
that can stop that. It explained all the feelings
Max felt when savanna came along, it explained
why Lucas cared so much about her safety, it answered everything.
