Author's note:
Hello everyone! Thank you all for reading, I hope you enjoy this story! Before we begin, I have a few important things to share with you:
First, all characters in this story have publicly stated that they are alright with fan fictions being written about them, but if anything changes this story will be removed!
Second, Sapnap asked that his real name not be included in fanfictions, so his name will not be used in my story. All other characters will be referred to by a mix of their real names and online names.
Third, thank you so much for reading! Your support is so meaningful to me! Votes and comments are so appreciated, and really help boost my story's rankings! If you have any thoughts, ideas, or opinions on my story, feel free to message me (Amelia56Cat) or leave a comment. If you make any artwork based on my story, please share it with me as well, I'd love to see it! Please do not repost or translate on other platforms without messaging me, just to make sure that I haven't already published or planned to publish the story on that platform. Thank you guys so much!!!
Fourth, Encompassing Empathy is not a actually a real condition. I did my best to write it very scientifically and realistically, and all statistics are accurate (not just random numbers, actual percentages and totals that I calculated) as well as all ADHD facts and statistics. I did a lot of research for this book, please message/comment any questions you have!
Fifth, and lastly, this story will contain swearing (same amount of swearing the ccs use irl, for reference), which will not be mentioned in trigger warnings. My format of trigger warnings is elaborated upon in chapter two, but there are no trigger warnings starting until chapter three. I will always include a warning if the story content could be alarming, but there will be no spoilers. This story will have some intense parts, so make sure to pay attention to trigger warnings and stay safe! Ily all, and please message/comment if I ever miss a warning that needs to be labeled!
For this chapter, I recommend listening to Here With Me by marshmallow, Hero by Faouzia, A Contracorriente by Alvaro Soler, Hey There Delilah by the Plain White T's, and/or All Night by The Vamps.
I will provide a song recommendation before the start of each chapter in the author's note, because I always love listening to music while reading! If you want to suggest any songs for future chapters, feel free to message or comment! The songs I recommend won't usually have much to do with the story, but they fit the vibe/theme of each chapter very well. The songs I recommend will either have lyrics that correlate to the plot, or just generally provide some good ambience for the chapter. Enjoy!

Prologue:
Dream isn't normal. Ever since he was born, he has been able to sense the emotions of those around him because of a condition caused by ADHD. This condition is called encompassing empathy, and causes his subconscious to pick up on the emotions of others. The only downside to this rare ability is that he doesn't just see the emotions of others, he feels them, too.
Dream has no control over his empathy, and can't stop himself from feeling the emotions of others. His condition is a curse that makes his life incredibly difficult. Because of this, he rarely has interactions with his friends in person. He can't sense their emotions online, so most of his relationships are long distance. The only exception is Sapnap, the only person other that Dream's family that knows about his encompassing empathy.
Dream hasn't even told George, his best friend.
Until now, he had no reason to tell George, but now... things are changing. George is about to move to America, and would be meeting Dream in person. Dream will be forced to feel his emotions. And, on top of that complication, something was different between the two lately. Their constant teasing and flirting was starting to seem a little more... real.
