Breaking up | Chapter 9

*SMALL TIME SKIP*
After Will finally had his first ever kiss with his crush that was also his best friend Mike, everything changed, but not in a bad way, in a good way. Will felt way more comfortable around Mike right now. The feeling of not hiding anything away from his crush anymore was the best feeling Will has ever felt. Well, he was hiding one more thing away from him, but let's not talk about that. Will has been deeply in love with Mike since they were almost 8 years old, and Will always had to watch El and Mike together, and now it turns out Mike actually likes him back? it felt like Will was dreaming right now. Everything felt like a dream. No way his biggest wish ever just actually came true.

Even though he had literally been traumatized yesterday, he couldn't feel happier right now. He never had a kiss with anyone before, meaning Mike, the person he had the biggest crush on EVER, was his first ever kiss. In that moment, the moment Mike kissed him, Will's heart stopped. It was like he was about to pass out, and that Mike and him were alone in the world.

Right now, Will was taking a nap in his bed which Mike didn't mind at all, because then he had the change to talk to El in private since Hopper and Joyce were getting groceries. Because of what happened the last time El, Mike and Will went with them, Hopper and Joyce decided that it was better if El, Mike and Will stayed home this time.

Mike sat on the couch in the living room, while outside there was only rain and thunder, and the dark sky was covered with gray clouds. Mike was drinking coffee again so he wouldn't get too cold, and he was thinking about a good way to tell this to El. He just decided to tell El to sit next to him so they could talk.

"Hey, uh, El? Could you sit next to me? We need to talk." Mike said softly, not making eye contact with El. Of course Mike didn't hate El now, he actually still loved El, just not in a romantic way and he wasn't trying to make eye contact because Mike knew how awkward he was going to make this.

"Oh yeah sure!" El answered her boyfriend, well, ex-boyfriend. El walked to the couch Mike was sitting on and sat right next to him. "What's wrong?" El asked nicely. Mike took a deep breath, and decided to start the conversation.

"El, you know i really love you, right? Well i-...I don't love you in a romantic way." Mike started, El's eyes went wide in shock and the pain was also obvious in her eyes right now.

"It has nothing to do with you, alright? that is why i still love you in a platonic way. It's just..." Mike stopped again for a few seconds, happy that El still didn't really got mad at him and that she was still listening carefully.

"I think i'm in love with someone else, El." Mike said as he looked down at his coffee that was getting cold right now, but his coffee was the least thing he cared about right now. The pain in El's eyes was getting more and more obvious right now, more obvious than before. "...Who?" El asked softly, almost getting tears in her eyes.

"Will." Mike said fast, tears coming in his eyes too now. El looked at him very confused. "But...Will is a boy?" She said with an even more confused look on her face right now, until she realized. Mike was gay. He wasn't into girls, he was into boys. Yes, El knows what gay means, she has actually heard it from TV almost 5 years ago. She also saw on TV that actually most people had a problem with gay people, but El didn't know why.

When El found out what gay was for the first time she got very confused, but she never really thought it was a bad thing, she saw it as something normal. El was different herself, and yes, she was straight, but she still knows what being different is like, and she actually thinks being different is cool now. Jonathan has teached her how being different is actually good, and that not everyone is the same. It isn't a bad thing at all.

"Ohh..." El said softly. El wasn't mad at Mike at all, she was actually very happy that Mike told her about this, and she totally understood Mike. She moved closer to Mike, and put a hand on Mike's back. "I'm not mad at you. I understand you." El said while giving Mike a huge smile. Mike now turned his head to El, and finally made eye contact with her again. "Wait what? Why don't you hate me, i-i don't understand..." Mike stuttered.

"Because being different isn't a bad thing, Mike. I'm also different, and Jonathan has teached me that it isn't a bad thing at all. Mike, it's okay." El said. She now moved even closer to Mike, and gave him a huge hug so she could comfort Mike. Obviously, Mike hugged El back, because again, he didn't stop loving El at all. Of course he still loved her! just not in an romantic way.

"Wait but, if you are into boys, then why did you date me?" El asked, totally confused again. "You know how people have a pretty huge problem with people like me? i think i just tried to convince myself i wasn't into boys..." Mike said softly, now fidgeting with his pants. "You shouldn't do that Mike, please just accept yourself for who you are, you're not weird." El gave Mike a huge smile once again and Mike just smiled back.

Mike was so happy that his ex-girlfriend who was now one of his best friends totally supported him. He was so happy that El didn't care about what people said and that she just had her own opinion. "Thank you El...for everything." Mike said, wiping a tear of happiness away from his eye. "It's not a problem at all! Wait, but does Will like you back?" El asked the last question she had, and now Mike started smiling and blushing.

"I mean, he kinda was the first person who kissed me yesterday so..." Mike said while smiling and blushing like a freak. Knew it. El thought to herself. El always kinda knew Will was into boys, and she also always kinda knew that Will had feelings for Mike. The way Will looked at Mike, the way Will put his head on Mike's shoulder a few days ago and the way Will would smile after talking to Mike or after calling Mike just made it so obvious, but El didn't really mind though. She was happy for them.

But wait, they kissed!? El thought to herself. "You and Will kissed each other!?" El asked in joy, happy that her brother and ex-boyfriend could maybe be an actual thing now. For some reason, El didn't even really mind that they kissed while Mike was still in a relationship with her. Of course it was pretty bad, but El always thought she actually wasn't really ready for an relationship anyway, besides that, she'll move on soon anyway!

"Mike i'm actually so happy for you!" El said as she hugged Mike once again, and obviously Mike hugged back again. Again, Mike was SO happy that El was being supportive and that she wasn't mad at all at him. "Awh, thank you so much El. I'm so grateful to have you in my life." He said while smiling at her once again.

El and Mike sat like this for a few minutes, hugging and smiling, happy that they understood each other.
