Chapter 25

Diana is forced to sit beside T'Challa, she lays back in pain as her blood pours onto the seat. "So, you like cats?" Sam breaks the silence.

"Sam."

"What? Dude shows up dressed like a cat and you don't wanna know more?" He asks Steve.

"Your suit....it's Vibranium?"

T'Challa's eyes narrow as he glances sideways. "The Black Panther has been the protector of Wakanda for generations. A mantle, passed from warrior to warrior. And now, because your friend murdered my father, I also wear the mantle of king. So, I ask you....as both warrior and king....how long do you think you can keep your friend safe from me?"

"Dude, at this moment I don't care about what your saying because you stabbed me. Bucky was with me during the bombing in Vienna. The entire time." Diana grunts.

"How do you know if he left while you were out, or while you were sleeping?"

Diana laughs through her pain. "Yeah we weren't sleeping much at all that night. So I know he was there the whole time."
The van stops and they are let out of their cuffs and led over to Sharon and another man named Everett Ross. Diana holds her side as she stares across at Bucky who was strapped into a pod. "What's gonna happen to him?" She asks.

"Same thing that ought to happen to you. Psychological evaluation and extradition."

"This is Everett Ross, Deputy Task Force Commander." Sharon nods.

"What about our lawyer?" Steve asks.

"Lawyer. That's funny. See their weapons are placed in lockup. We'll take your armor." He points at Diana. "Oh, we'll write you a receipt."

Sam sighs, "I better not look out the window and see anybody flying around in that."

Diana looks back at Bucky worriedly, he slowly nods at her and looks away.

"You'll be provided with an office instead of a cell. Now, do me a favor, stay in it?"

T'Challa looks at them, "I don't intend on going anywhere."

Natasha walks up and shakes her head at Steve. "For the record, this is what making things worse looks like."

"He's alive."

Diana then spots Tony walking up on his phone. "No. Romania was not Accords-sanctioned. And, Colonel Rhodes is supervising cleanup."

"Try not to break anything while we fix this." Nat glances at Diana.

"Consequences? You bet there'll be consequences. Obviously you can quote me on that 'cause I just said it. Anything else? Thank you, sir."

"Consequences'?" Diana asks him.

"Secretary Ross wants you guys prosecuted. Especially you, Diana....Had to give him something." He shrugs.

Steve sighs, "I'm not getting that shield back, am I?"

"Technically, it's the government's property. Wings, too." Nat nods.

"That's cold." Sam mutters.

"Warmer than jail." Tony looks at Diana's side. "For Christ sake, can we get a medic?!" He yells.

"Sorry sir." A young girl rushes over with a kit.

"We need to talk when your done." Tony nods.

"Here, I have some clothes for you." Nat follows Diana and the medic into a small room. Nat helps her takes her armor off, setting it aside and helping her put new undergarments on. The medic sits her down and starts to clean and stitch the four slash wounds on her side. "So you just run off without telling us?"

"I had a lead...I didn't expect it to actually be him."

"You should have called." She sighs.

"We needed time....he needed time." She nods. "We just got each other back."

"I understand...but you have people that love you. That were worried about you."

"You guys know what I'm capable of. I'm fine." Diana sighs.

"I told them we don't have to restrain your powers...don't make me regret that."

"Im not gonna do anything...I'm not risking them hurting Bucky." Diana stands and puts on a loose red shirt and black leggings. She pulls on the heeled black boots Natasha gave her and walks outside.

Steve was first to approach her as he storms away from Tony. "Why didn't you call me and tell me you found him? We were investigating together. You had no right to keep me in the dark." He puts his hands on his hips.

"He wasn't ready, Steve. He wanted to be alone with me...he is still trying to remember you." She sighs. "I promised him I wouldn't contact you until he was ready."

"Still-"

"Goddammit Steve! Stop being so selfish! He wasn't ready! You don't even know all that he's been through. What Hydra did to him! They've put his brain in a fucking blender and tortured him, forced him to kill! I'm sorry I was the first one for him to remember, I'm sorry that I didn't call. But I wasn't going to betray the man I am in love with, I wasn't going to break his trust!"

Steve stays silent and walks past her, she shakes her head and walks over to Sam, quickly hugging him. She burries her face in his shoulder and sighs. "Hey, pretty girl. You okay?"

"I know you heard. Was I too harsh. Am I wrong?"

"I understand what you mean. He's just upset that you just disappeared and with the Accords." Sam hands her a packet. "Stark wants you to read and sign this...Steve and I won't do it. I'm gonna check on him." Sam caresses the side of her face before walking off.

Diana sits away from T'Challa, starting to read the document, she reads it carefully for thirty minutes, stopping on the page to sign. She looks over at Tony and shoves the document aside, walking out and over to him.

He quickly hugs her, sighing as she kisses his cheek. "You doing okay, honey? I don't mean the Accords stuff."

"Pep and I are taking a break....I just...it's hard."

"Oh honey." She hugs him again. "Just give her time."

"I know that's what she needs right now."

"Tony, you have to listen to me. Bucky was not in Vienna. During the time of the bombing we were literally making breakfast together. If I could have my phone back...I can show you a picture I took of us."

"I can't get access to your stuff." He shakes his head. "Ross is pissed that you disappeared. He's even more mad now that he knows you were with Bucky. He's gonna be here soon."

Diana hesitates for a moment before grabbing the sides of his face. "Tony I have to tell you something that I found out the other day. The truth about your parents...."

"Mom I'm over all that. It's been years..."

Diana smiles as he calls her mom again. "It's about the way they died-" Suddenly the lights cut out, Diana looks over to see Sam waving her over.

She splits up from Tony and runs over to Sam and Steve, running down a flight of stairs. "You don't think-"

"I don't know." Steve shakes his head.

They get down where Bucky was held to see many bodies on the ground. Steve rubs into the next room first. Diana follows behind to see him talking to the "doctor", not seeing Bucky behind her in the shadows.

Bucky grabs her and throws her into the wall, she blocks his punch and slides to the left. "Bucky! It's Diana! Stop!" She ducks again, but not quick enough the second time as he punched her. Bucky grabs her throat and holds her up, punching her wounded side and throwing her into the next wall, making her pass out.

Diana wakes up to Sam shaking her, "Diana, please wake up!"

"Where's Bucky? Where's that doctor?" She looks around.

"The doctor got away...Steve has Bucky. We gotta get out of here."
