Diana spent the next week undercover as Erskine's assistant, no one questioned it until Steve's big day when she revealed her powers. She had grown closer to Steve, Erskine, Peggy, and Howard Stark. She really loved speaking and spending time with them.
Diana smiles as Steve and Peggy walk towards them. "Good morning."
Diana turns as someone takes a photo. "Please, not now." Erskine sighs.
"Are you ready?" Steve nods at Erskine. "Good. Take off your shirt, your tie, and your hat."
Diana takes his hat for him and puts it on a table. "You seem nervous." Steve says to her as she folds his shirt.
"I am....I don't want anything to happen to you. It's just...I know I haven't known you long but...your my best friend. You were immediately kind to me and took me in...what I'm trying to say is that I care deeply about you."
"Your the first women to actually be nice to me....your my best friend too. I think your fascinating....but I'm gonna be okay." He smiles, hugging her side and walking over to his spot and sitting down.
"Mr. Stark, how are your levels?" Erskine asks.
"Levels at 100%. We may dim half the lights in Brooklyn, but we are ready as we'll ever be."
"Agent Carter? Diana? Don't you think you would be more comfortable in the booth?" Erskine asks.
"Yes, of course. Sorry." Peggy quickly leaves.
"I'm gonna stay right here." Diana nods.
Erskine nods and grabs the microphone. "Do you hear me? Is this on? Ladies and gentlemen, today we take not another step towards annihilation, but the first step on the path to peace. We begin with a series of microinjections into the subject's major muscle groups. The serum infusion will cause immediate cellular change. And then, to stimulate growth, the subject will be saturated with Vita-Rays."
They give Steve a small shot. "That wasn't so bad."
"That was penicillin.....Serum infusion beginning in five, four, three, two, one." Diana digs her nails into her palms as Steve winces in pain from all the injections, they then shut the door. "Now, Mr. Stark. Steven? Can you hear me?"
"It's probably too late to go to the bathroom, right?"
"We will proceed." Erskine nods at Stark.
"That's 10%. Twenty percent. Thirty. That's 40%."
"Vital signs are normal." A nurse says.
"That's 50%. Sixty. Seventy."
Suddenly Steve starts to scream out, "Steven! Steven!"
Diana runs over beside Erskine. "Shut it down! Shut it down! kill the reactor, Howard! Turn it off!" She yells.
"Kill it! kill the reactor!"
"No! Don't! I can do this!" Steve yells out.
Erskine nods at Howard to continue. "Eighty. Ninety. That's 100%."
Suddenly everything stops, "Mr. Stark?" Erskine asks, he quickly opens the pod and Steve lays there much taller and much more muscular.
"Steve!" Diana helps him out and hugs him.
"I did it." He sighs in relief, looking up as Peggy walks over.
"How do you feel?" She asks with a smile.
"Taller."
"You look taller." She grabs a shirt and hands it to him.
"I'm so proud of you." Diana says as he smiles at her. He hugs her again, trying not to squeeze her too tight. "You won't break me." She whispers.
Suddenly the room above explodes, Diana turns as the sound of two gunshots fill the room to see Erskine drop to his knees.
Peggy chases after the man as Diana and Steve watch as Erskine dies in their arms. Steve was first to get up and run, Diana slowly stands and transforms her clothes into her armor. Everyone around her stares in shock as she lifts up and bursts through the ceiling, flying outside as Steve chases after a car.
Just as he leaps on top of it, a plane flies above and shoots down at the street. Diana flies up and distracts the plane, making it chase after her through the sky. She twists and turns as it shoots at her, giving the people below enough time to hide.
She quickly flips back and blasts the plane, then using her power to move the falling debris into the water. She lands back down beside the senator and colonel Phillips.
"You've been lying to us...." Phillips says, not phased.
"I am here to protect this planet....and I give you my word on your safety." She nods.
"This is so weird....and wonderful!" The senator yells.
