Growing up, all the children knew the story of Ailith. She was a young girl who lived in our village over 1000 years ago. She was famous for being the most beautiful girl in all of the land. Many adored her for her beauty and regarded her has the village's pride and joy. A witch by the name of Esme grew jealous of the girl because the man the witch loved only had eyes for Ailith. So the witch cursed the young beauty. Over night, Ailith grew terrifying horns and big wispy white wings. Her captivating green eyes turned white and her dark brown skin turned black. Her teeth and nails grew long and sharp and the town's pride and joy shortly turned into their nightmare. They banished Ailith to the forest and not even her own parents stood up for her. Now, parents warn their children of going into the woods because the Ailith lives there, waiting to get revenge on the village. Many children took the story literally and stayed away from the woods out of fear for the girl, but I was always interested in her.
I grew up longing to enter those woods. Hoping to see the once beautiful girl. To see if she is really as scary as the all say.
