We all stood at the edge of something at one point or another in our lifetime, whether it be; the edge of a stairs, the edge of a wall, the edge at the beach where the sand and the sea met.
Just like me, standing between the edge of life and death. Though death is preparatory, a transition into ones higher self, meeting the unknown.
I stood in the great abyss, nothing but darkness engulfed me. Was this my transition? It felt calming, void of any anything.
The sound of a distant call drew my attention, my eyes squinted as the light started getting brighter and brighter.
"Aliyah!" The voice called.
"Sir! You can't be in here right now...." Another said, the abyss suddenly started to morph into something, a room?
"Someone get him out! Come on Young lady wake up!"
My body felt electrifying, something zapped me, drawing me closer to the light as the abyss morphed into something each time more recognizable.
"Come on! 1 2 3" the light surrounded me, turning into a new reality, then I fell. I fell and never woke up.

My eyes fluttered open. The light was a bit bright for me so I squinted my eyes to block the harshness.
They relaxed and I opened them fully, looking around as my body became more aware.
I looked around and saw Friday asleep on a couch by the corner, I turned my head and saw another man standing with his head bent low looking at something like his phone.
"Hel-" I tried calling but my throat felt like I swallowed a sand paper and then lit it on fire.
The man whipped around revealing that it was may dad.
"Honey... Nurse!" He yelled. Friday jumped up from his slumber, he looked tired. His eyes sat inside a deep dark hole. Him and my dad were at my side as the nurses rushed in.
"Welcome back Ms. Lane" one smiled injecting something in my IV while the other was occupied with emptying my catheter.
"What happened?" I croaked.
"Can I get some water please" Friday jumped to it, pouring me a glass from the table.
I gulped it down like it was the first time I was drinking water in years.
"Slow down Aliyah" my said brushing my hair. I drank slower downing the whole thing in no time.
"Alright... Fluids are set, vitals are good. You should be able to eat soon" the nurse said looking down on me, the other was still silent and taking notes.
"I will come back with your medications a little later... Are you in any pain?" I shook my head.
"Good I'll leave you to it" the nurses left the room, leaving us three with an unintentional tension.
"Dad I-"
"So this is the boy, you were not inclined in telling me about" he began looking over at Friday who wore a solemn expression on his face and remained silent.
"You nearly killed my daughter" I had to stop him.
"Dad stop" came my quiet voice I've never seen my father like this so I didn't know what to do, Friday spoke up.
"It's nice to meet you Mr. Lane, though not under normal circumstances. I am Kian Fletcher. Son of Macon Fletcher" My father scowled.
"Which Macon Fletcher?"
"CEO of vice, I think shareholder of the Atlanta Hospice" my father's eyes opened wide but was quickly masked by stoicism. Atlanta Hospice was where my father worked for years even I didn't know that Fridays father was a shareholder there. How did he even know that my father worked there?
"Well good to meet you Mr. Fletcher" We explained to my father as best as possible about what happened and what steps we should take next. The police were on the search for tia and the bodyguard but in the meantime I was giving all the statements I could.
"Where is onika?" I asked.
"She's in another room, kai's with her. She fine, just suffered a mild concussion" I sigh of relief escaped my lips and I relaxed further on the bed.
My father made sure I was okay and in good hands with fair warnings of course as he had to catch a quick flight back to Atlanta for a big surgery. I spoke to my mom on the phone, who cried her eyes out and surprisingly took a liking to Friday.
We ate but Friday didn't seem like himself.
"What's wrong?" He paused mid bite and his lips thinned. Tears brimmed the edge of his eyes and I rested my hands on his.
"I thought I lost you Aliyah" he whispered, my heart broke at his troubled state. He went through so much and I just wanted to hold him.
"The knife sliced your stomach and bruised your lung.... You lost alot of blood, went unconscious until your heart practically stopped beating" now I was crying, tears unabashedly ran down the corners of my eyes as Friday explain what happened. I nearly died, so it was true I was at the edge of life and death.
I squeezed his hand "I'm sorry baby b-but I'm here now" was all I said through tears. He kissed the back of my hands and gave me a heart broken smile.
"Indeed you are"
