Chapter 26

Gwil put on a Queen cd while he was sitting in the car with Addison next to him. It was finally time for her to meet his own parents. They had recently moved to live closer to Gwil. It was still almost an hour's drive away. 
"Do you know where we are going?" Gwil asked. He looked briefly to his right to see that Addison shook her head.
"We are going to my parent's house," Gwil said. Addison was silent for a bit.
"They are your dads?" Addison asked. Gwil chuckled softly.
"No, my mom and dad. My family is like Scarlett's. Lucy is her mom and Rami is her dad. I have a mom and dad too," Gwil explained. 
"Okay," Addison said before turning her attention to the book she was holding. Gwil shook his head while smiling widely. 

When Gwil parked the car he noticed that Addison was looking rather afraid. He got out of the car before making her way over to her side of the car. He opened the door for her.
"Hey, sweetheart," Gwil said while gently turning her chin.
"Everything is going to be alright. They really want to meet you and I promise you that they are really lovely. They are maybe even more lovely than I am," Gwil said before winking. That painted a smile on Addison's face. Gwil had a long phone call with his parents to make sure they would be calm when he would walk in with Addison. He helped Addison out of her car seat before making his way over to the front door. Almost as soon as he rang the doorbell, the door opened. 
"Oh, Gwilym. It's so nice to see you again," His mom said while giving him a big hug.
"Nice to see you too mom." 

Gwil placed a kiss on her cheek before he stepped aside to reveal Addison standing behind him.
"Hi, sweetheart. My name is Ann, but you can call me grandma," She said while getting down to Addison's level. Addison wrapped her arms around Gwil's leg. She looked up at him confused.
"Grandma is short for grandmother. A grandmother is the mom of your dad or mom. She is my mother so she is your grandmother," Gwilym calmly explained. Addison nodded slowly. Ann stepped aside to let both of them in. 
"Come in," She said. Gwilym lifted Addison up so they could make their way inside. Gwil's dad was sitting on a chair in the living room.
"Gwilym!" He explained happily. Gwil put Addison down before giving his dad a big hug.
"Hi, dad," Gwil said. 

When Gwil pulled away Gwil's dad immediately turned to Addison who was almost entirely hiding behind Gwil. 
"I'm Gerald. But you can call me grandpa," He said. Addison nodded. Gwil smiled before sitting down on the couch.
"Do you want to sit next to me?" Gwil asked while patting the spot on the couch next to him. Addison nodded. But before she could make her way over, Gerald got up and rushed to sit next to Gwil. Addison giggled softly. Gwil lifted her up so he could have her sit down on his lap instead.

Gwil made Addison sit with them for a while before he allowed her to grab her bag and start to colour. She sat down at the dining room table. Gwil would check on her every once in her while. After a while, Addison got up and walked over to Gwil. 
"Dad?" 
"Yes, sweetheart?" Gwil saw that his mom's mouth fell open.
"This doesn't open," Addison said while holding up a pack of new crayons. He opened it for her.
"What about we tell grandma and grandpa the good news? After that, you can go back to colouring, okay?" Gwil said.

"Last week, on father's day. This sweet little girl asked us to adopt her," Gwil said. Gwil's mom gasped loudly while Gwil's dad's eyes widened. 
"Are you serious?" Gerald asks. Gwil nodded. 
"That is amazing news. I am so happy for you," Gerald said. 
"So happy for you," Ann said while fighting back her tears. 
"You can go back to colouring," Gwil said when Addison looked at him. She jumped off his lap to go back to her drawing. 

Gwil's mom got up to grab some more drinks. Gwil immediately followed her to the kitchen. 
"She is so cute and I am so happy for you. All three of you," Ann said. 
"Thank you," Gwil said while wrapping his arms tightly around her. He held her even when the sobs started to escape from her chest. 
"All I want is to see you happy. And I am so proud of how far you three have come. I can tell she is the perfect kid for all of you," She said. 
"I know. We feel the same way," Gwil said.

When it was time to go, Gwil asked Addison to hug both of them goodbye. She hesitantly did so. 
"I'll visit you very soon," Gwil said 
"You better do that," Gerald said. Gwil chuckled.
"You could also visit us, you know." 
"We know. Drive safe, honey," Ann said. Gwil waved.
"Always, don't worry. Goodbye," Gwil said. He followed Addison to the car.

When they were sitting in the car, Addison fell asleep almost immediately. When Gwil didn't get a response to his question, he looked to his side. Addison's eyes were closed and her head was leaning backwards. Gwil smiled before turning the radio down a little.
