The Truth

I was assuming it hadn't been long since Aaron had kidnapped me. He's only come to see me once and I'm sure Thursday didn't fly by that quickly. Then again, I was asleep for most of it. It could be Saturday for all I know. I really hope not.

Aaron was pretty nice and got me something to eat, but I couldn't stomach it. The anxiety I had from all of this was eating me alive. I felt guilty about everything I'd done up until now. What will Asher think of me when he finds out? Will he be willing to come after me for the sake of our family? Honestly, I wouldn't blame him if he truly hated me and wanted nothing to do with my kids.

I was in the middle of overthinking when a burlap sack was shoved over my head. I screamed, but one hit to the gut got me to shut up. I doubt there's anyone around to hear me scream. I want to believe there is. Maybe this is a ploy to make sure I stay under their control.

The walk felt long and I didn't know what to expect. Could they be leading me to my demise? That sounds like a better option compared to this treatment. I know some people who could have done much better with kidnapping me. I wouldn't know it was them until it was too late. Now that's how you kidnap someone.

They finally selected a room and led me inside. It was cold and dank. Who in their right mind would own a room like this? It feels like no one has been in here for years. I felt my skin crawl as they pushed me into a seat and tied me up. This is so humiliating.

"Ah, right on time!" Aaron crowed. "How do you feel, Lexi? I hope you understand the extremity of my plans."

"...Go to Hell," I snarled.

"Yeah, no. I'd rather stay here and torture you. Anyway, while we're getting set up, what do you think of my plan?"

"It's stupid and isn't going to work."

"I haven't said anything yet."

"Well, I still think it's stupid and never going to work." I barked out a laugh. "No one is ever going to believe anything you say. They aren't going to take you seriously."

"You must not know who I am."

"Duh..."

"I'm not going to explain. You'll find out soon enough. For right now, I want you to know that once your husband finds out what's happening, everything is going to fall into place. Whether you live or die will be on his hands. I'm sure you want to live long enough to get old and send your children off to college."

Of course, I do, but not like this. I don't want them to think they're obligated to live the life I never got to live, because my life is being threatened. Especially Vincent. He's going to suffer the moment he finds out about this. I already know he's vengeful just like Asher. I've seen a lot of situations get out of hand, because Asher felt wronged by everything.

"Is it ready?" he asked someone.

"Yes, sir," they replied.

"Great. I can't wait for their responses. The threats will be rolling in like no tomorrow."

Ew, he's one of those sadistic freaks who feed off of someone else's pain. I pity the woman who ends up marrying him. That's if he isn't already married. Married men like him are always the really crazy ones. That actually kind of scares me. Just for that, I hope Asher is level-headed and doesn't respond to his nonsense.

"In 3...2...1."

"Asher, I have a little surprise for you," he suddenly announced. "If you haven't heard the news by now, I hope you're sitting down. It surprised me at how easy it was to pull this off. What does a woman gotta do to get her husband to pay attention to her?"
