4 | Have We Met Before

Summary: AU where Kunikida and Dazai are childhood friends. They meet again years later and its only Dazai who remebers.

"Have we met before?" 

Everyone was confused as that was what their new member had said to Kunikida who looked equally confused. "No. I don't think we have. Sorry." Kunikida said folding his arms after putting his notebook away.

"No. I think it was you!" Dazai said pointing at Kunikida. "What was me?" Kunikida asked. Dazai paused and looked up at the ceiling before looking back at Kunikida. This time he got close and started at him for a good while causing Kunikida to take a step back.

"Could you stop staring?" He asked and Dazai  straightend himself up and pointed at Kunikida again and shouted"It was definately you!"

"You were the weird kid with the notebook and the broken glasses!"

Everyone at the agency was confused even Kunikida. Sure he did have a notebook , different to the one he has now , and had broken glasses for awhile but he can't have been the one that Dazai was talking about.

"I think its best if I tell you." Dazai said grabbing hold of Kunikida's arm and pulled him out of the agency office.

Dazai had dragged Kunikida into a different room and shut the door. "Do you think you can tell me why you think you know me?" Kunikida asked. Dazai stood infron of Kunikida.

"Ok. It happend 14 years ago." Dazai said now turning serious as Kunikida sat and listend.

*14 years ago*

It was another peaceful day in Yokohama and people were going about their daily buisness. However , it was quite different for two people. One of them was a boy with brown hair and he wore a white shirt and black trousers. He also had bandages covering his arms.

He was standing on the edge of the river bank staring deep into the water. His name was Dazai.

The other one was a blonde haired boy , who was in a school uniform and had broken glasses was also in the area. And his name was Kunikida.

Dazai was having a pretty rough day , worse than usual and he was here to end his suffering by drowning in the river. He had slipped before attempting to jump and fell in the river.

However , Kunikida seemed to be the only one who had noticed the kid in the white shirt fall in the river so he ran over to him and tried his best to pull the kid out of the river before it was too late.

"Hey , are you ok?" The blonde haired boy asked as he pulled Dazai out of the river. He  waited untill the other had stopped coughing and was sitting upright. "Failed again." The boy in bandages cursed under his breath , which shocked Kunikida.

Dazai looked over to see a boy with blonde hair kneeling next to him. He suspected that the boy was the one who had saved him during his suicide attempt even if he did fall in without realising it.

"Who are you?" He asked. "I'm Kunikida." The boy said "I saw you fall in so I got you out."Dazai glared at the floor. "Im Dazai and thanks i guess. "

"Oi Doppo! Hurry up we don't have all day!" Both boys looked over to see a man with blonde hair wearing a suit looking really angry and impatient. Dazai did not miss the way Kunikida tensed up and tried not to flinch at the sound of the mans voice and the way he moved to stand up quickly.

"Will I see you again?" Dazai asked as he watched Kunikida look at his father and back at Dazai again.

"I don't know." Kunikida said. They both looked at each other for what they thought was the last time not knowing they would meet again 14 years later.

"I think I'm starting to remember now." Kunikida said. Dazai smiled , happy that Kunikida is remembering now. "How did you know that it was me?" Kunikida asked.

"Its like I just knew." Dazai said. He walked over to Kunikida and grabbed his arm and pulled him up. "Hey! Watch it!" Kunikida shouted. "Don't we have an exam to start?" Dazai asked.

"Youre the one whos doing the exam not me!" Kunikida shouted as Dazai pulled him out of the room and back into the office again.

Both Kunikida and Dazai were happy that they had finally found each other after all those years of being seperated and not knowing where the other was.

They were finally together again.

I had wanted to write this idea for awhile and it finally exists. I did kind of rush this one but I hope you still enjoyed it.

Gonna work on the next one when I get an idea for it. Anyway thanks for reading and bye for now
