The night was dark and quiet as it usually was. And at this time like many others , Dazai and Kunikida were asleep. Kind of. Dazai was actually awake as he was not tired at all.
So he was busy reading the book that he always read. After flicking through the pages he read so many times he closed the book and put it down. He heard some faint sounds comming from next to him he stopped.
He looked over to where the sounds were comming from and saw Kunikida next to him , he was slightly tossing and turning and was saying someting along the lines of
theyre dead and not being able to save someone.
It was at this point when Dazai noticed that Kunikida appeared to be having a nightmare of some kind. Dazai decided that the best course of action was to wake him up.
And thats what he did. He gently shook Kunikida hoping it would get him to wake up from the nightmare he was having. However that didn't work but Dazai kept on trying.
"Kunikida wake up ..." Dazai said trying harder. But still not much reaction so with that Dazai moved to Kunikida's side of the bed knelt down and gently shook him again.
He also continued talking to him even more hoping that it would wake him up from the nightmare he was having.
"Kunikida come on wake up. Whatever you're seeing its not real." Dazai was saying. "Your having a nightmare. You've got to wake up --"
And he was cut off with a scream.

Kunikida woke up with a start trying to figure out who was screaming untill he realised that it was his own voice. And that he was the one who was screaming.
His breathing was quickend as he was trying to calm himself down. It turned out it was just another nightmare. He was having alot of those recently especially after all their recent missions.
Once he got his breathing to normal he finally looked around and noticed that he was not in the underground subway but at his own house. And Dazai was wih him.
"Hey Kunikida." Dazai asked. "You looked like you were having a bad dream again."
Kunikida sat up and now looked at Dazai who was now standing near his side of the bed and facing him. He also had a look of concern on his face.
"I couldn't save them." Kunikida started. "I was right there ....." He said , voice shaking a little.
"She died Dazai. I couldn't save her." He continued to say. Dazai felt bad for Kunikida , he truly did. He knew how badly these cases affected him and these nightmares were the result.
"I killed them ...." He was full on crying and the tears wouldn't stop.
"You didn't kill them Kunikida." Dazai started to say as he looked at Kunikida. He had to get Kunikida to calm down.
"No Dazai you don't get it." He said "I took out my notebook and she died. It was my ideals that did this .... "
Kunikida now had his head in hands as he tried to calm himself down.
Dazai then moved to pull Kunikida into a hug. This shocked him a little as Kunikida wasn't expecting that from Dazai. He later relaxed a little and accepted it.
Once he calmed down he moved away from the hug. "I'm sorry." Kunikida started to say. Dazai looked at him slightly confused.
"For what?" He asked.
"For this ... " Kunikida said pointing to himself.
Dazai grew even more concerned. He would not let Kunikida talk about himself in that way and Dazai was going to make sure that Kunikida knew that he most definately was not.
"Hey , Kunikida listen to me now." Dazai said as Kunikida looked at him. "Don't talk about yoursefl like that. You are not a burden. I won't let you talk about yourself like that because your not."
Kunikida looked like he was about to say something before Dazai pulled him into another hug. Kunikida still accepted it but he was still feeling quite overwhelmed from the nightmare he had.
"It's not your fault Kunikida." Dazai was saying reassuring him.
After that things calmed down and it was quiet again. Now it was just the two of them together. Neither of them went back to sleep after that so they ended up staying with each other and not doing anything for the rest of the night.
