Colby's POV

"So...she found some drugs?" Sam asked as we walked down the hall. "Yup. I let her go to the bathroom and apparently there were some oxy's in there." I said with a hint of annoyance.

I was mad at myself for letting Julia get into drugs. I trusted her too much when I shouldn't have.

It was a dumb mistake and I couldn't necessarily blame her.

"I'll send Jake to go and scope the house out. He'll hide anything so this won't happen again." I said then grabbed my phone.

"Yeah, it's tough to see her go through that." Sam said as I nodded.

"I just hope Alexander sees us taking care of her. I might have fucked up but it's not like I let her stay in a bad place." I said and walked into Sam's office.

"Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. Accidents happen." He said as I sighed.

"Alright. Time to find out our fate." I said then grabbed the letter that was on Sam's desk. "You nervous?" Sam asked as I nodded.

"Yes, but nerves show weakness." I said then opened the letter.

Mr. Brock,

Please join us at our banquet on January 14th. Bring who you'd like. Bring Juliana.

"Fuck." I hissed and closed my eyes. "Oh no. What's going on?" Sam asked as I handed him the letter.

"He's gonna take her from me." I mumbled and closed my eyes. "You don't know that. Maybe he just wants to see his daughter." Sam said as I rolled my eyes.

"Even worse. Julia doesn't want to see him even a little bit." I said and sighed, running my fingers through my hair.

"I think I just need to accept that this is the end. He's going to kill me." I said as Sam shook his head.

"No. He would take Julia back before he would kill you. You know this is all about status." Sam said and looked at the letter.

"I don't think you understand that I won't let him take her. I'll sacrifice myself if it means that Julia gets to stay away from him." I said as Sam sighed.

"You really love her." He said with a matter of fact tone. "Yeah. I love her a lot." I said then turned to leave the room.

"I'm happy for you, man. You deserve to have someone to love." Sam said as I sat down. "It would be better if the whole crime world wasn't after her." I said then closed my eyes.

"I wish I could just back out of this. Take Julia and run away with her." I admitted. It was the first time I voiced my opinion on this.

It's been on my mind more often lately. I wanted to just take Julia and move somewhere that nobody would find us.

I wanted to get away from this life not for myself, but for the girl I dragged into it.

I deserved to live the rest of my life being chased. I deserved to be on everyone's hit list, and I deserved to be killed for all that I have done.

Julia didn't.

"I guess I should get some more work done while Julia is drugged up." I said then stood up again.

"Yeah, the comedown is gonna suck pretty bad for her." Sam said as I nodded. "Well known." I said then left the room.

When I got back to my office Julia was laughing at something Corey had said.

I hated that her laughter was drug induced but hearing it made my heart flutter.

"Corey stoooppppp." Julia giggled. "I'm just sitting here, man." Corey said as Julia looked up at me.
