~To Be Together~

New entered his room. He went into his bathroom and started to undress. Events from today made him feel light hearted. He entered the shower and stood with the warm water running down his back. New’s mind kept going back to when he met Zee. He remembered how his stomach felt like a butterfly zoo, all fluttery. He kept picturing Zee's eyes and how they glowed under the light. New smiled as he thought about tomorrow and what it might bring.

He quickly showered, did his night time skin care routine and got out of the bathroom. He changed into his silk pajamas and as he got into bed, he heard his phone ring. He looked at the caller ID and smiled as it was his friend.

“Meung, are you excited for tomorrow.?” Nat was probably more excited than New.

“Actually, I’m feeling pretty tired,” New said, conjuring a fake yawn. “I’ll go to bed now.” New smiled as he heard his friend whining

“A’i New, don’t go to bed yet. You haven’t told me. Don’t be like that. Tell me!” Nat knew if he whined enough, New would surely tell him.

“Fine, I’ll tell you. I'm actually so nervous, meung. I don’t know how to control myself around him. What if I say something, oo-r or do something that might make him know my feelings about him. I don’t want to ruin the history of friendship between our families. What if I do something and it changes that?” Everything came out. New laid out all of his true feelings to his best friend.

“Meung, you will be ok. Remember, this is your turf. You know this place better, and you know the history of the Lanna temples. Amaze him with the knowledeg and facts that you know about the ruins. So be confident in yourself. I know you can do it. You'll be alright tomorrow.” Nat knew how nervous his friend was, so he gave words of affirmation to encourage his friend.

“Thanks meung. Thanks for listening and for believing in me.” New smiled, grateful for his friend.

“No worries, I’m always here for you.” Nat spoke, as a yawn escaped his mouth.

New smiled as he heard his friend.

“Nat, I’ll call you tomorrow, ok. I need to get some sleep.” New said good night to his friend, turned off his light and laid his head down on his pillow. But he couldn’t sleep. His brain was wide awake. He had too many thoughts in his head. Then he heard his phone vibrate, notifying him of a message.

New took his phone and opened it. Then he saw a message that made his heart flutter.

“Goodnight Nu. See you tomorrow.”
-Phi Zee.

New abruptly sat up, holding his phone with wide eyes.

“Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! He texted me.” New laid back down and started squealing and rolling around his bed.

New was so caught up in his excitment he didn't hear his brother calling him.

“Hia what’s wrong? Is something bothering you?” While New was tossing and turning in his bed, Nu Kuea heard him squealing. He called his brother's name a few times before busted the door open, thinking something was wrong. New sat up again with his hair sticking in every which direction, flushed as anything.

“Oh, sorry Nu. No, I’m ok. I just got really excited because…uhh….well my package will be coming soon. That’s all.” New held a sheepish smile as he thought of an excuse. He didn’t want his younger brother to know he had a crush on Zee.

“Oh ok. Are you sure you’re alright?” Nu Kuea asked, finally leaving New’s room once he saw that his brother was ok.

New laid back down, willing his heart to calm down. He kept looking up at his ceiling with a smile on his face, until he finally closed his eyes, going to dreamland.

*Earlier that day*

“Phi Kinn, did you find something?” Zee asked, as he entered the hotel.

“I’ve gotten the location of where they dropped off the shipment. But I also found something else.” Kinn answered with a concerned look.

“What is it?” Zee walked over to the desk, where Kinn had a laptop opened.

Zee turned the laptop towards him and exclaimed in shock.

“Vik!”
