Kiefer was driving. He looked very charming in his red shirt and jeans. He'd combed his hair into submission and Blake had very nearly made them late by getting too handsy in the bathroom while they got ready. It was not her fault that he was handsome as hell, nor was it her fault that she'd been missing him so much lately. The best way to get his attention was in bed, and it helped that she was entirely okay with those romps. He had needs, and she had different needs, but they could generally both be met with the same activity. Being late was a problem though, and so he'd reluctantly untangled Blake before they left. Later.

Zelda fell asleep in the car, as she often did, and Blake found herself and Kiefer in comfortable ambiance. The radio was humming along at a low volume, some rock song by a popular band. Blake wondered if she would be on that station someday. Some of their songs were rock, but they trafficked to the pop station. Well, for all two songs that had ever played. She pulled out her phone, curious about something, but soon the thought left her mind.

Her name came up in another post on a gossip site. She frowned lightly, opening it up.

The happy couple is splitting holidays now? Am I really reading too much into this, or is it as bad as it looks? Baby girl wasn't with either, which makes sense, but I expected to see the pair of them together. Here is Blake G leaving her event at 10:34 PM. A picture was included. Blake looked pretty at least. And here we see Carter exiting his diner get-together at 1:12 AM. Already into Christmas day. A picture. Blake couldn't tell if he had his ring on or not, but she reminded herself that didn't matter. It was just a ring. He even got the door for a girl he was with. A picture. She recognized one of Kiefer's employees. She knew them all. That made sense though. He was being polite. I don't know, but this isn't looking great.

Maybe that was true. Blake put her phone away. It felt weird. Gossip could turn anything icky. That didn't somehow mean anything though. "Chico..." He murmured that he was listening, but kept his eyes on the road. Blake rested her hand on his thigh. "Next year... I'll make sure I can come to your work party. Okay?"

A confused pause, then a nod. "Sure. Sounds nice." He did spare her a small glance and a smile. "Te amo."

"Te amo." Blake settled back into her seat but left her hand on him.
