Demi

I woke the next morning with a pounding headache. I rolled over in bed and forced my eyes open, taking instant note of the tipped over bottle of vodka on my bedroom carpet. I groaned and nuzzled my face into the pillow. Fuck. I tried to remember anything that happened last night but the constant thumping in my head was making it a struggle. As much as the headache hurt though, I'd kind of missed the feeling.

I eventually managed to climb out of bed and I stumbled into the bathroom. There was a line of white powder sat on the marble counter. My heart dropped into my stomach at the sight. What the fuck did I do? After a moment of staring at it, I quickly cleaned it up and then stepped into the shower.

I spent the next week telling friends and family that I had decided that I wanted to start drinking in moderation. It wasn't a decision a lot of people agreed with and I lost friends because of it. The hardest person to tell was Marissa. Her reaction shocked the shit out of me and that night, I mourned the loss of a friend by drowning my sorrows in alcohol and getting high with people I'd consider strangers. Even though my family and friends didn't agree with it, they all agreed to support me and I really appreciated that. It meant I didn't have to hide the fact that I had gone back to drinking alcohol.

I organised a meeting with Phil and Mike at the end of that week that didn't go well at all. I fired Mike and Phil dropped me. I'd signed a contract at 19 that meant I had to stay sober and if at any point I wasn't, then I'd be dropped from the label. I can't believe how easy it was for them to leave me. Anyone that was hired by Phil was no longer on my team. It sucked to realise how many people I truly lost.

The South American leg of the Tell Me You Love Me Tour was supposed to kick start in São Paulo on April 15th but due to production issues the dates had to be rescheduled. That meant I had some time off before the European leg of the tour that kicks off in Belfast on May 24th.

I was either drunk or high throughout a lot of April. I was introduced to drugs I never imagined I'd use but the high from them was something I couldn't quite describe. I'd lost so many people in such a short space of time that I craved something to remove that heartache and bitterness I felt. I wasn't somebody I recognised anymore but I managed to hide everything from the people who stuck by me. They all thought it was just alcohol, nobody knew about the drugs.

It seems the fun hasn't stopped for both Demi and Bella, who have both recently returned from a weekend at the Coachella Music Festival.

I filmed a music video for my collaboration with Clean Bandit at the end of April. I'd popped a few pills before I went so I was on cloud nine for the entire day.

I flew away to Bali with a few friends at the beginning of May. It was whilst I was there that I realised how dependent I had become on the drugs I had been taking. I thankfully managed to hide my withdrawals from everyone and I managed to survive the vacation. I wouldn't say I enjoyed it as I spent most nights trying to ignore the way my body craved some sort of high, but it was nice to have a break.

I unfortunately ended up breaking my foot as I took a tumble down the stairs and it wasn't until I landed back in LA that I found out. It didn't matter how much I joked about it because it really did have an impact on my mood. I wasn't able to work out because of it and that made me pile on the weight, that had a negative affect on my eating disorder. I didn't eat when I landed back in LA and went back to relying on the drugs and the alcohol to get me through the day.

Guess who fractured her foot walking down the stairs in Bali 🙋🏻‍♀️

I had been asked by Christina Aguilera to feature on her next single 'Fall in Line.' There is no way I would ever pass up that opportunity. I have idolised her since I was a little girl. I got to meet her at the beginning of May as we filmed a music video. The entire experience was surreal. I was a nervous wreck before I met her but she was so sweet and welcoming that the nerves very quickly floated away. I felt so relaxed around her. On the same day it was also announced that we would be performing at the Billboard Music Awards, this is without a doubt my proudest moment.

Beginning the performance, Christina appeared in a shiny black latex trench coat, adding knee-high boots with her blonde locks styled into loose waves. Demi entered for the second verse, also wearing black latex. She opted for a zip-up jacket and matching pants. The Sorry Not Sorry songstress also kept her hair down in a wet look style.
