Chapter 1 - The News
“Samantha! Come downstairs. Your father and I need to talk to you!” My mother yelled from the kitchen. Sighing, I got off my bed, took out my headphones, plugged in my I Pod, and went to the kitchen.
“Yeah?” I asked, grabbing a water bottle from the fridge.
“Your dad and I have exciting news!” I looked at them, waiting for them to go on.
“Last week, we entered a worldwide contest for a summer at a beach house in Australia with another family..”
I rolled my eyes, “You called me out here.. for that?” I asked a little ruder than expected.
“You didn’t let her finish..” My dad commented.
“The good news is that.. WE WON!”
My mouth dropped. I was speechless. A whole summer in Australia? On a beach? Wake up, go for a swim. Walk on the beach. Find a hot guy. Go for another swim.
I’m definitely ready for this!
“WAIT! WE WON!? WE’RE GOING TO AUSTRALIA FOR THE SUMMER?!” I literally screamed, making my parents plug their ears.
“Yep! And you can bring a friend!”
“HOLT FRICK!” I yelled! “I have to go call Kaeleigh!” I ran upstairs and grabbed my phone. Since Kaeleigh was on speed dial, I only had to press the number 4. It rang twice, and I head “Sup! What’s the happs girl?!”
I took a deep breath, and yelled, “KAELEIGH! PACK YOUR BAGS! WE’RE GOING TO AUSTRALIA FOR THE SUMMER!” I didn’t hear a sound. “KAELEIGH! SAY SOMETHING!” All of the sudden, I head an eardrum-blowing scream. I laughed and pulled the phone away form my ear!
“Kae! My mom will call your mom with the deets, text me!” With that, I hung up, knowing she would be screaming for a while. I ran out of my room, and skipped down the hallway. I could hear my mom’s voice, she was on the phone.
“Yes, Mrs. Younge! We’ll take good care of her! …. Of course! No, all you guys have to pay for is the plane ticket there & back. …. And we’ll be there from June 1st, to August 24th. Of course, we’d love to have her! Okay! See you soon! Buhbye!” I was smiling! This summer, would be the best. I can’t wait for Summer ‘09!
