Chapter 22- Ohana
“Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind.” Lilo spoke, and I was sobbing hard. I always cry during movies, it was disappointing, really. I glanced through my tears to Kae, who was trying to hide the tears. A laugh slipped through my sadness, attracting her attention. That sent her overboard, tears streaming down her face. Liam scooped her up and was cooing in her ear. Harry, on the other hand, was wiping tears too. He had his knees wrapped around his arms, comforting himself. I put my face on his shoulder and he put his head on top of mine.
“We’re pathetic, you know that?” He whispered. I let out a chuckle, nodding my head.
“We’re teenagers, crying at a movie I think we have seen countless times. I kind of figured.” I said, wiping my eyes on my sleeve. I probably got a bit of makeup on it, but oh well. It would wash out. I leaned up and kissed Harry’s cheek, and continued watching the movie. I felt his gaze avert to me but I pretended I didn’t notice it. It had been a good five minutes, and he still hasn’t taken his eyes off of me. I glanced up, and his head shot towards the telly. I rolled my eyes, and he laughed. “I’m thirsty, want anything to drink?”
“I’ll go with ya.” He said, hopping up. He took my able hand and pulled me up alongside him. “You guys want anything?” He asked Kae and Liam, who were still cuddling.
“Could you possibly get us both waters?” Liam spoke, answering for Kae. The funny thing is that Liam knows Kae like the back of his hand now. That is exactly what she would have wanted. I chuckled once again as Harry led us to the kitchen.
“I’m in the mood for a hot chocolate.” I declared, hopping onto the island.
“You do know that it’s the middle of summer, right?” Harry asked me like I was crazy. I giggled and nodded, fully aware. He shook his head smiling, and pulled out 2 waters and a soda from the fridge. He shuffled over to the cupboards and rummaged through em. He was able to find a few packs of instant hot cocoa with mini marshmallows. He reached for a mug at the top of the glass cabinet and set it on the granite counter top. Pouring the 2 packs in and adding water, he set the mug in the microwave and put it on for three minutes. We went over to me and nudged his way in between my legs. He was facing me, his elbows on my thighs. I put my arms around his neck and we just stared into each other’s eyes. Sounds uber cliché, yeah, but it was cute to say the least. He leaned forwards and pressed a kiss to my nose, making it scrunch. “You’re a silly girl.” He said, grinning.
“You should have known that by now.” I said sticking my tongue out. Our moment was cut short with the sound of my hot chocolate being done. I unlatched my arms and let him walk back over to the microwave. He carefully took my drink out and stirred it. He opened the mini marshmallows and poured some in, letting them bob on the surface. He walked it over to me, letting my small fingers slip through the handle. I brought it up to my lips, taking in the wonderful smell. I took a slow sip, making sure it didn’t burn me. Letting it travel down my throat, I put the mug back on the counter, and looked at him. He had a goofy grin plastered on his face, the pop can in his hand. He walked back over to me, back in between my legs.
“You got a little hot chocolate stach going on.” He said, laughing. “But don’t worry, I got it for ya.” He leaned in and connected his lips with mine, his hands finding its way to my hips. My hands cupped his face, and I kissed back with no hesitation. Our lips were like synchronized dancers, perfectly in time together. It’s crazy how fast I picked up on kissing, since Harry was my first. His tongue slid across my lips, asking for entrance. Right as my mouth opened a bit, I heard a cough and a chuckle. We broke apart fast and Harry turned around. Kae and Liam were standing there, wide eyes, and small smiles.
“We came in to see what was taking so long with our drinks, but I guess now we know why.” Kae said, raising one eyebrow with a smug look. I was embarrassed that we were caught like this, and that we had probably been gone for a good six or seven minutes. Harry awkwardly scratched the back of his head and I glanced around the kitchen, everything being interesting at this point. “We’ll get our drinks and skedaddle so you two can get back to doing whatever you two were doing.” She grabbed the waters and the hurried out of the kitchen, shutting the door behind them. I laughed a bit when I caught Harry’s eye.
“Wanna get back to the movie?” He asked, holding out his hand. I nodded and jumped to my feet. I grabbed my mug and Harry’s hand, and we opened the door leading to the living room.
“Done so soon?” Liam asked, winking. I looked down and smiled, while Harry huffed.
“Shut it mate.” He said, setting his can on a coaster and sitting down. I copied, and snuggled into his side. The hot chocolate and his body were so warm that I was fighting to keep my eyes open. I finally gave in and fell asleep.
“I’ll carry her up, night guys.” I heard someone mumble. I opened my eyes but immediately closed them because of the light. I yawned and tried to open them again, this time succeeding. I was being carried bridal styles through the house, probably leading to the staircase. “Now you’re awake.” Harry said, laughing. I tiredly smiled and threw my arms around his neck for safety. “You’re such a poo head, you know? You were the one making me watch Mean Girls, but you didn’t even watch Love, Actually with me.” He said, pouting. “I had to sit through a few hours of Kae reciting the lines perfectly and Liam laughing.”
“I’m sorry, babe.” I said, as we finally reached the stairs. “I can walk from here, if you’d like?”
“Naw its okay love.” He said, as he started his journey up.
“What time is it?” I asked, watching Harry’s curls jump with every step.
“Round 1 in the morning.” He said, looking down. I was shocked; I slept through all of that. “Everyone is going to bed and so are you.”
“I’m perfectly fine with that.” I said, laughing. Harry grinned as we reached the top. He walked towards my door and kicked it open with his foot. He gently laid me down on my bed and put the covers on me.
“I’ll see you in the morning, babe. Goodnight.” Harry said, bending down. He gave me a sweet kiss and brushed some of the loose hair out of my face. He stood back up and was going to walk out of the room.
“Wait, why don’t you just stay in here tonight? It’ll save you the walk.” I said, winking.
“Like the hallway is that far…” He said laughing. He shut the door, turned off the light and made his way around the bed and slid into the covers. Once he got situated, he grabbed me by the hips and pulled me in to where he was spooning me. He quickly kissed an open part of my neck and nuzzled into my hair. I smiled to myself. This night as been one of the best yet.
