BRITTNEY POV.
It's been a few months since the whole stove incident. Carter had really lost his mind that day but he's been better with controlling his emotions, for now. Not saying I forgive me or anything.
He gave me my phone back because he knew I'd need it for emergencies. I logged my Apple ID out of my son's iPad. That way Carter couldn't invade all of the privacy I had left. I knew he put cameras in the house too. So whenever I talk to Dontrell, I talk to him in a place where cameras are not present, which is in my car when out doing shopping or picking Grayson up from school.
The only reason why I talk to Dontrell is because I like his company. He makes me feel good about myself and he seems to care about my well-being. When he hasn't heard from me for a few days, he worries. He's always telling me how I deserve better, and maybe I do know that but after what happened the last time, I don't think I wanna do that again.
Right now, Dontrell and I are eating ice cream. He's really been getting me used to eating a lot of junk foods again and boy let me tell you, I've been at my happiest ever since.
"Oh Britt come on. You've never been rolling skating?", he asked.
"No. I swear", I replied.
"Your childhood must've been lame. I gotta take you one day", said Dontrell.
"I was the quiet child. Carter brought me out of my shyness then proceeded to bring me back in down the line", I said. "But um... he does have another business trip coming up. Maybe we can go then and maybe you can meet Grayson."
"Sounds good but don't you think he'll say something.", said Dontrell.
" I don't think he would", I said.
"Britt, I don't wanna get you trouble", said Dontrell.
"Okay well my mom can watch him", I said. "He's been wanting to see his grandma lately anyway. It's been a few months...I don't blame him."
"Your ice cream is melting", said Dontrell.
I look at my ice cream and it was indeed melting. I licked around ice cream so it wouldn't fall of the cone.
"Damn", said Dontrell.
"What?", I asked as I smiled.
"Nothing", he said.
"Okay", I said as he gave him a curious look before licking my ice cream again.
Dontrell looked at his own ice cream and finished it up with his spoon. He got his ice cream in a cup.
"But I have to go. Thank you for the ice cream", I said.
"Anytime", he said.
His mood seemed down. If I didn't know any better I'd think that he didn't want me to do.
"You alright?", I asked.
"Yea", he said as he finally looked at me again. "I don't wanna hold you up."
"No. You've been there for me, let me be there for you. What's on your mind?", I asked.
He shakes his head. "I can't talk about that right now", he said.
I sigh. "Okay...well later then? I guess", I said.
He nods.
I walk to my car and he walks to his. I didn't want to be out long because Carter would suspect something. But then again, I didn't want Dontrell and I's relationship to be one sided to where he's only here for me.
