BRITTNEY POV.

A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER...

I put a plate of food in front of a guy at the table.

"Thank you", he said.

"You're welcome. If you need anything else, give me a holler", I said.

"Will do", he said as he took a bite of his French fries.

I walk to the bar to talk to Kate. Things were a little slow tonight.

"So, how are you liking working here so far?", asked Kate.

"It's okay. I get some asshole drunk customers sometimes but nobody's a bigger asshole than Carter so I can handle it", I said.

"...how do you stay so...calm after everything that...you know, that's happened?", asked Kate.

"Fake it till you make it", I said.

"...faking it is the very thing that will destroy you one day", said Kate. "You don't have to fake it...just let yourself go through it. It's the only way you actually overcome it and be happy."

"...the only way I'll be happy...is if Carter is dead", I said.

Kate didn't say anything.

"My baby had to go, so Carter needs to as well", I said. "Let's be real...nobody will get over the death of this baby. Nobody...so...me acting like I'm okay is the best way to be okay because ... the more I let this pain and hatred sink me down, the more I let the darkness control me."

Kate nods.

"Excuse me, I have to use the restroom", I said before walking to the bathroom.

KATE POV.

In a sense maybe Brittney is right but at the same time, but at the same time with some of he things she said, maybe she was already controlled by the darkness.

"Hey Kate", said Dontrell.

I look at Dontrell. "Hey", I replied.

"Let me get a jungle juice", he said.

"That's pretty strong", I said.

"Yea well...it's something that I want so", said Dontrell. "Thank you."

"You okay?", I asked.

"Going on a date tonight", said Dontrell.

"Um you should be excited, not tryna get drunk", I said.

"I just need to loosen up. It's a min since I've been on a date and well...I'm just stressed. Got a lot on my mind", said Dontrell.

"You mean with Brittney moving out and everything?", I asked.

"Kinda...she said she's ready to leave and I don't wanna stop her but...I just...I feel like what if she isn't. What if I let her move out and kills herself", said Dontrell.

"...honestly...I think the suicidal thoughts are over", I said. "But she does wish death on Carter."

"Me and her both. I get that he's a little messed up but...how can he just kill his son like that", asked Dontrell.
