BRITTNEY POV.
As I sit at the bar and stir my straw in my drink, I think about the situation I put myself in. That is when suddenly, I feel the presence of someone sitting next to me.
"Give me the usual", said a deep voice.
I knew he was speaking to the bartender so I didn't look at him immediately. Instead, I looked at the bartender first who walked away to make the guy's drink.
I finally look at the guy sitting next me to. He looks at me once he notices me looking at him.
"Hey how you doing?", I ask.
His name is Dontrell. He's usually at the bar networking so I see him here from time to time. Those times we have had conversations.
"I'm good. What's up with you? I was sitting over there and I noticed you looking a little down", said Dontrell.
"And you wanna come to cheer me up?", I asked
"I just wanted to know if you wanted some company.", said Dontrell.
"Only if you wanna give that. I noticed you over thing mingling. I don't wanna stir you away from that", I said.
"Chaotic at home again?", he asked.
"...kinda sorta", I said as I look away.
"I know how it can be with kids. I see my brother deal with my nieces and nephew all the time", he said.
I nod in agreement. My child wasn't my problem, it was my husband.
"He's with my mother for the night", I said as I watched the bartender, Kate, make drinks for other people.
"I don't know what I want to eat", I say as I look at my menu. "I feel like I get the same thing every time"
"...you know what they don't have?", Dontrell asked. "Pizza. Somebody who does have some good ass pizza is the spot next door."
The bartender gives Dontrell the drink.
"Thank you Kate", he says.
Kate looks at me and I look at her. She smiles at me and looks at the guy from the corner of her eyes. She gives me a thumbs up before walking away. Kate knew everyone who came into her bar, including me.
As you already know, I do some here often. Kate knows me well and she knows my situation with my husband. I know that I haven't told you guys my situation yet, but you will soon find out.
I shake my head and smile to myself a little at Kate being too obvious.
"Woah Woah, what's the secret code that I gotta break?", he asked jokingly.
