Connor Hale Pov.
Seattle. Not exactly my ideal place to move, but it was somewhere where nobody knew. It was possible that they have heard about me, but they didn't know me. I could start new with a clean slate. It hurt me to have to leave North Dakota. It was where I was raised, where I got married, where my child was born. Seems like the ideal place to live doesn't it, well not exactly. Not when your wife dies. Three years ago, I just couldn't stand being here. I tried I really did, I wanted Ellie to know the place her mother grew up in.
Just sometimes it doesn't work that way. Sometimes you hold onto a person so tight that you can just never let go. Ellie deserves a dad who is able to give her what she needs. Moving away from that hell hole is what she needs. It just doesn't feel like it. The good thing is she's only four, she won't miss the people here. Not for long, anyway. She'll probably forget about them in a few years. I mean she'll still see her family, so there won't be anything to miss. Hopefully.

"So see you Tuesday?" Jackson asked, as he put his shirt back on. I sat up in the bed to look him in the eyes. "I promised Mer I'd babysit Zola." Which was true, ever since Alex left I've been doing things to keep my mind off of him. It's not the greatest feeling in the world, when your husband leaves for a women he was with a long time ago. "Okay, well I guess I'll just see you at hospital then?" Jackson questioned. Ever since Alex left everyone looks at me like I'm going to run as far away as possible.
I promised myself I wouldn't never run again. I was in no danger, there was no need for it. Yes heartbreak hurts, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna just pack my bags and go. "Yeah, like usual." Jackson nods, he paused like he was thinking about saying something, but decided against it. "See you tomorrow, Jo." Right before he was able to get to the door of the loft there was a knock.
I can't help myself, everytime I hear a knock I hope it's Alex. I've never thought of what I'd do if it was him. Well, it will never happen so nothing to worry about. "It's Jackson Avery, I'm here for a quick bang!" Link yelled from the other side of the door. That idiot. Jackson opens the door for Link, who looked confused to see that Jackson was already here. "Oh hey." Link greeted, trying to make it less awaked then it already was. "Don't worry Link, I'm on my way out." Link visably relaxed at hearing that information.
I got up from the bed and grabbed some clothes to change into. My favorite blue sweater and some black leggings, something comfortable. I had today off, so why not make the most of it. Right when Jackson left, Link decided to speak. "So you and Avery?" I shook my head, before I went into the kitchen to grab a coffee cup. "We're just friends." I said, as I grabbed things to make hot chocolate. "With benefits." He added. I sighed and looked over at Link. "With benefits." I echoed.
"I think he's still in love with Kepner anyway." I added, as I grabbed a cup for Link. "So you to are banging cause you two can't have the people you want?" He asked, looking confused. I nodded. "Pretty much, I think this was the last time anyway." I added. He thought for a second before nodding. "Anyway, how are things with Amelia I know you where thinking about purposing?" I asked, just to get the giant spotlight off me.
He smiled a huge smile at the mention of Amelia. "Things are great, I just haven't decided what ring to use yet." He said, as he went into his bag and digged for something. He popped out four rings. Holy shit. "Wow, those cost more than this loft, holy crap Link." He scratched the back of his neck and laughed. "So how are you going to ask her." He thought for a second before shrugging his shoulders. "I have no idea, maybe at Christmas. Enough about me. Has Jackson told you yet?" Link asked.
Told me what? "I have no idea what your talking about." I answered. He laughed sheepishly. "Well about the guy that's taking your ex husband's job."
