Missy sat at the kitchen island doing her homework as her mother did housework around her. Holly was next to her drawing. The front door opened and Karen rushed over to see who it was.

"Jonathan?" Karen called out and Missy's head immediately turned up. What is he doing here? Missy got up and followed her mom out of the kitchen. As she reached the doorframe she locked eyes with Nancy.

"Uh... Mrs. Wheeler." Jonathan turned back around to face Karen. He gave Missy a quick side look. Missy crossed her arms and leant against the doorframe with a grin.

"-What a pleasant surprise." Karen smiled at the two. Nancy's eyes flickered between the floor and Missy.

"-Yeah, uh. We have a test tomorrow." Jonathan stuttered a lie. Missy raised an eyebrow at the two.

"-Nancy loves studying." Missy spoke sarcastically giving Nancy a menacing grin.

"-Oh, did you go shopping?" Karen looked down at the paper bag Nancy was holding.

"-Oh, uh, yeah. My walkman broke." Nancy tried acting calm as she clutched onto the bag. Missy let out a chuckle. "Anyway, we should go. It's a really big test."

"-Oh, I'm sure it is." Missy teased as she looked at the two.

"-Yeah, so we should get going." Nancy nodded and started pushing Jonathan down the hall.

"-Bye, Mrs. Wheeler." Jonathan waved as he continued to get pushed.

"-Bye! It's good to see you." Karen smiled as the two got out of sight.

"I'll be back." Missy told her mother as she headed up the stairs after Jonathan and Nancy.

Once at Nancy's door she leant up against it to hear in on their conversation. It was muffled but she was still able to get most of it.

"Okay, are you sure about this?" Jonathan asked Nancy nervously. Caught you, fuckers.

"No." Nancy spoke bluntly, almost like she didn't care. That was enough for Missy to burst in. Jonathan and Nancy looked up from the bed quickly.

"Caught you." Missy pointed at the two. They looked up at her, confused.

"-Caught us doing, what exactly?" Nancy looked at her sister with an arched eyebrow.

"-Cheating." Missy crossed her arms, proud of herself.

"-Right." Nancy nodded as Missy looked at the two, the confused one now.

"-Wait, your not?" Missy dropped her arms to her sides disappointedly.

"-Look, I know you and Steve think that cheating is so fun but, I'm actually not a home-wreaking little bitch." Nancy shrugged and pulled her phone over to herself. Missy felt her heart drop as Nancy spoke.

"-Excuse me?" Missy barely got out with her mouth almost dropped to the floor, regret filling her body.

"-Hailey told me, everything." Nancy looked up at her younger sister with pained eyes. "Get out."

"-I'm sorry, Nance. I never meant for it to get this bad-" Missy began stumbling over her words with panic.

"-Just get out. I've got more important things to do right now." Nancy interrupted her, rolling her eyes. "I should of known anyways, you've always had a thing for taking my shit."

Missy couldn't get anything out, she stood there like a stunned mullet. She knew at one stage her sister would find out and she'd have to face it at, but she definitely wasn't prepared. It hurt knowing what she had done but she also felt a bit relieved.

"-I'm sorry." Missy sobbed as she left the room, slowly closing the door behind her. Missy almost ran to her too her room, slamming the door behind her and falling on her bed.

Missy grabbed her pillow and pulled it to her chest, an attempt to stop the panic attack brewing. Hailey wouldn't tell her, right? Steve was too uptight to admit to cheating. A million thoughts sped around her mind as she bawled her eyes out into her pillow, almost forgetting Jonathan was a few doors down.

Missy slammed her head against her steering wheel as she sat out the front of Steve's house, he was the only person she could think of.

"Fuck it." Missy grunted and grabbed her bag. As she got out of the car she felt her heart go shallow. Poor Nancy. That was all she could think.

Missy recited a few scenarios in her head as she approached the door, but it barely prepared her. What was next? What happened to her relationship with her sister? Where did her and Steve stand? There was a lot to be discovered, a painful process Missy would just rather avoid all together.

Missy let out a deep breath as she held her fist to the door. Fuck it, she thought as she knocked. After a minute or so there was some ruffling behind the door, then it slowly opened revealing Steve.

"Hey." Steve smiled as he caught sight of Missy.

"-Hey." Missy smiled back, her bloodshot eyes sparkled as she looked at Steve. "Uh, can I come in?"

"-Yeah, of course." Steve nodded and quickly moved to the side, noticing Missy's teary face. "What's wrong?" He asked panicked, closing the door behind her.

"-Did you tell Nancy?" Missy sighed and looked down at her converse, guilt filling up her gut.

"-About what?" Steve let out a stressed breath.

"-Us." Missy sobbed, as she looked up at Steve. The brunette stood still in his place, eyes locked on the younger girl.

"-No." He spoke bluntly. Missy quietly nodded, looking back down at her shoes.

"-Well then, I think Hailey wants to ruin my life." Missy sighed, making her way to the stairs and sitting at the end.

"-Oh?" Steve bit his lip, knowing Hailey spilt a lot of shit to him last week.

"-Yeah. I mean, I get what she was trying to do when she told you about me doing drugs but this is just cruel." Missy cried and dropped her head into her hands. Steve quickly rushed to her and put his arm around her comfortingly. "She knew what was actually going on. She knew I was going to fix this."

"-Maybe she just thought she was helping." Steve did a slight shrug as he rubbed his hand up and down Missy's arm.

"-Well she's not." Missy sniffed, wiping her nose with her sleeve. A silence fell between the two.

"-I knew she was going to tell her." Steve blurted out. Missy turned her head to him slowly. "Last week she came over and told me some things, actually a lot of things."

"-Like what?" Missy slightly turned her head to side, a bit scared of what she could of told him.

"-Well she yelled at me, a lot. But then she settled down and we talked through a lot of things." Steve shrugged, his arm still wrapped around Missy. "I've been so awful to you, Melissa."

"-No, it's okay-" Missy began, but Steve put a hand over her mouth.

"-No, it's not. I kept you hidden on the side and dated your sister just because I thought she was the socially acceptable version of you." Steve sighed as he lowed his hand from Missy's mouth. "But that's not true. You are the most beautiful, kindest, smartest human being in the world. You're the girl I want, I'm sorry it took me so long to realise how much of a dick I was being."

"-I think dick is an understatement." Missy chuckled and bit her lip.

"-I love you, so much." Steve let out a breathy chuckle.

"-And I love you." Missy let out a warm smile and grabbed Steve's cheek.

For the first time in awhile. Everything felt like it was going to be okay.
