" bye hopper. " missy waved as her and hailey got out of the car, hopper simply nodded in return and drove off. " how was jonathan doing? "

" it's like he's not there anymore, soulless almost. " hailey sighed as the two made their way into the wheelers home and headed up the stairs. " i feel so awful for him. "

" joyce is just such a mess, she's very manic but she knows he's alive. " missy threw her bag on the floor and fell on the bed. " this is all so crazy, i can't wrap my head around it all. "

" i know, it's not everyday something like this happens in quaint little hawkins. " hailey plopped her bag down to and slowly sat next to her best friend.

" i feel like something bad is happening, not just to will. this town. " missy sat up and looked hailey in the eyes. " this is just the start of something... big. "

" what do you mean? " hailey felt her heart drop.

" i don't know, but this is a lot more strange then it seems, right? there's this feeling i have. " missy looked out the window and felt that strange feeling again. " when hopper and i were out in the byers shed it had this weird aura if you know what i mean? "

" yeah, no. " hailey raised an eyebrow.

" like when i walked in i felt sick and my head hurt, it was just a very uneasy feeling. " missy got up and walked towards her desk grabbing a photo of her and the boys at one of mike's birthdays. " hopper felt it too, i could tell. "

" okay yeah i get what you mean now, but like why. what happened in the shed. "

" i don't know, just bad things. it kinda feels like he's still there, like he- "

" never left. " the two girls said in union, missy simply nodded.

" i know it sounds crazy. " missy put the photo down and sat back down on the bed. " i can't seem to explain this simply, i'm sorry if i'm confusing you. "

" no it's okay, i understand. " hailey put a hand on missy's shoulder and gave her a reassuring smile. " i should get going though, mom is so pissed at me already. "

" i'll walk you out. " missy quickly got up after her following her back down the stairs.

" your going to be okay? " hailey turned around as they got to the front door.

" i'll be fine, see you tomorrow? " missy smiled opening the door for hailey. " try get some sleep. "

" yeah, you too. " missy sighed as she watched hailey got into her black ford fiesta, her most prized possession.

missy headed back for her room, desperate for a way to clear her head. in the bottom drawer of the brown tall dresser was missy's stash, drug stash. pulling the drawer open she pulled back a variety of clothes that were used to cover up everything. going for something a little more tame, missy reached for the bag of weed. missy plonked down on her bed and began to roll the joint, endless thoughts flooding in her mind.

after missy was done she grabbed her backpack off the back of her door, sliding the joint into the pocket of her jacket. most of the wheelers were asleep by 9pm at the latest so sneaking out was easy for missy who barely ever slept. missy slowly made her way down to the basement barely bothering to look around, heading straight for the door and out.

as missy walked down the dark road she thought about steve. why was he dating nancy? did that mean that everything that ever happened between them was just him trying to get closer to her older sister. missy sighed and lit the joint just wanting to feel peace for a little while. breathing in the smooth smoke she quickly melted away with her issues as she blew out. she was instantly interrupted by a certain red car pulling up beside her.

" i thought you quit. " steve yelled out while rolling his window down and giving the girl a faint smile.

" i thought pretty boys go to bed early. " missy shrugged still walking and puffing on her joint.

" what are you doing out, it's not safe. " steve drove slowly next to missy as she simply ignored him. " come on miss, get in the car. "

" no, why can't i just go for a walk in peace. "

" at midnight? "

" perfect time, it's calming. "

" missy i'm not messing around, please. "

" fuck off steve! " steve stopped immediately and stared at her, missy sighed and walked off to the park right beside them. " just leave me alone. "

" look i just want to talk. " steve jumped out of the car and chased her down to the swings where she sat down. " i'm an asshole, i know. "

" i'm listening. " missy turned her head to look at him before gesturing to the swing next to her.

" what i did to you was unforgivable, i'm sorry. missy if i could i would of never of opened my big stupid mouth to your mom. " steve sighed and put his hand on missy's. " i just wanted high school to mean something, for me to mean something. "

" what do you mean? " missy turned her head to the side and for a second, just a second. steve could of kissed her.

" i wanted to be popular missy. " steve looked away before he actually did make a move on her. " i'm sorry i didn't think you could be apart of that. "

" want a hit? " missy handed out the half smoked joint to the brunette boy who just stared blankly at it. " it will make you feel all fuzzy. "

" your crazy melissa wheeler. " steve chuckled as he took the joint from her small hands and brought it to his mouth inhaling a small amount before breaking out into a fit of coughing. " holy shit! "
